The Bihar Gambling (Prohibition) Bill, 2026
-->Upon implementation, the nearly 160-year-old Public Gambling Act, 1867, would be repealed and replaced by the Bihar Gambling (Prohibition) Act, 2026, enabling the state to effectively address the changing nature of gambling in modern times.
Betting and gambling are included in the State List of the Seventh Schedule of the Indian Constitution. State legislatures have the exclusive right to legislate on this subject.
