Article 226: High Courts can issue writs for enforcement of Fundamental Rights as well as “for any other purpose”, making their writ jurisdiction wider than the Supreme Court’s.
Article 32: Supreme Court can issue writs only for enforcement of Fundamental Rights.
Article 227: Every High Court has superintendence over all courts and tribunals within its territorial jurisdiction (except those under Armed Forces laws).
Article 141: Law declared by the Supreme Court is binding on all courts within India.
High Courts are constitutional courts with independent constitutional status; the Supreme Court is not their administrative “headmaster”.
Judicial Review: The High Court’s power under Article 226 is considered part of the Basic Structure of the Constitution.
