• Bihar to establish two new language academies: Bajjika Academy and Surjapuri Academy.
• Number of language academies in Bihar will increase from 6 to 8.
• Existing academies: Sanskrit, Maithili, Bangla, Bhojpuri, Magahi and Angika.
• Bajjika is mainly spoken in Vaishali–Muzaffarpur region.
• Surjapuri is mainly spoken in Seemanchal region (Purnea, Kishanganj, Araria, Katihar).
• Bihar is set to introduce Bihar State Language Academy Rules, 2026 for uniform regulation of all language academies. The proposed Bihar State Language Academy will have 1 Chairperson and 2 Deputy Directors (administrative and academic/research functions).
