Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai, a distinguished judge from Sikkim High Court, has been recommended by the Supreme Court collegium to become the next Chief Justice of the Patna High Court. Her appointment follows the retirement of the incumbent. Rai, Sikkim's first woman High Court judge, brings extensive judicial and administrative experience to this new role.

• RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) is the world’s largest free trade agreement, comprising 10 ASEAN countries + 5 FTA partners —> China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
• India withdrew from RCEP negotiations in 2019 due to concerns over:
– Surge of cheap imports (especially from China)
– Widening trade deficit
– Inadequate safeguards for domestic industry & agriculture
• RCEP officially came into force on 1 January 2022.
