• Loans under ECLGS are covered by 100% government guarantee through NCGTC (National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company).

• Objective: Prevent MSME loan accounts from turning into NPAs (Non-Performing Assets) and protect employment.

• ECLGS 5.0 approved mainly due to West Asia geopolitical tensions affecting businesses and supply chains.

• Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) tracks India’s unorganised non-agricultural sector; conducted by National Statistical Office (NSO).

• Haryana recorded highest growth in informal/non-agricultural employment in 2025 among major states (~29.8%). Gujarat registered contraction in informal employment.

• Uttar Pradesh has the largest informal workforce in India (~18.6 million workers), followed by West Bengal (~13.3 million).

• Gujarat became the only major state showing decline in all three indicators- establishments, employment and GVA (Gross Value Added).

• Delhi’s informal workers are among the most productive, with highest GVA per worker (~₹2.49 lakh annually). Uttarakhand recorded the sharpest rise in GVA per worker.

• “Unincorporated sector” generally includes proprietary and partnership enterprises not registered under Companies Act.

Somnath Temple was attacked first by Mahmud of Ghazni in 1026 CE; 2026 marks 1000 years of the first attack.

• Reconstruction of Somnath after Independence was strongly backed by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel; foundation restoration movement began after his 13 Nov 1947 visit.

• First President Rajendra Prasad inaugurated the restored Somnath Temple on 11 May 1951 despite opposition from PM Jawaharlal Nehru.

• Somnath is associated with the ancient region “Prabhasa” (Prabhas Patan) on Gujarat coast; considered one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Shiva.

• Important historical personalities linked with Somnath/Prabhasa revival: Bhima Deva, Kumarpala, Ahilyabai Holkar, Rana Khangar, and the Chudasama rulers of Saurashtra.

• Somnath lies on the Arabian Sea coast in Saurashtra region of Gujarat; nearby important site: Gir National Park - last natural habitat of Asiatic lions.

Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority launched “NPS Sanchay” initiative for workers in the unorganised sector under the National Pension System framework.

• Around 90% of India’s workforce is employed in the unorganised sector - including gig workers, domestic workers, street vendors and self-employed persons.

• Eligibility: Any Indian citizen aged 18–65 years can open the account after completing KYC formalities.

Minimum contribution norms:
• ₹500 required for opening the account.
• Minimum annual contribution to keep account active: ₹1,000.

•It is voluntary and contribution-based; pension amount is market-linked, not fixed or government-guaranteed.

• Accounts can be opened online through eNPS/KFintech portal or offline via registered banks, financial institutions and service centres.

• Pension wealth under NPS is invested in a mix of Equity (E), Corporate Bonds (C), Government Securities (G) and Alternative Assets (A).

It is not mandatory for state govt and other employees.

It is regulated by Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority.

This is a voluntary scheme for all citizens between 18 years to 70 years age.
