• India’s logistics cost for FY24 is 7.97% of GDP, much lower than earlier cited figures of 13–14%.

• The reduction is attributed to reforms like PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, Sagarmala, Dedicated Freight Corridors, Integrated Check Posts, and Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP).

• Global Trade Edge: Brings India closer to global standards (developed economies average 8–9% of GDP).

• 2030 Vision: Aligns with the National Logistics Policy goal of reducing logistics cost to ~5% of GDP by 2030, improving India’s position in global supply chains.

H-1B Visa: Non-immigrant visa allowing US companies to employ foreign workers in specialty occupations.

While Trump’s H-1B restrictions aim to protect US jobs, they present India with an opportunity to retain talent, boost innovation, and strengthen its knowledge economy. India must invest heavily in R&D, education, and global capability centres to turn this challenge into long-term strategic gain.

1. Increased Fossil Fuel Plans: Countries are planning higher fossil fuel production than before, with 2030 levels exceeding the 1.5°C Paris Agreement limit by over 120%.
2. Key Contributors: China, the US, and Russia account for more than half of global fossil fuel–related CO₂ emissions from 2022–2050 production.
3. Extended Timelines: Coal production is projected to rise till 2035, gas till 2050, and oil till 2050, undermining climate goals.
4. Paris Agreement Undermined: The plans contradict commitments to transition away from fossil fuels and achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by mid-century.
5. Global Profiles: Of 20 major producers (responsible for ~80% of fossil fuel output), 17 still plan to increase production of at least one fossil fuel by 2030.
6. Concerns Raised: Despite COP28 commitments and acknowledgment of climate risks, many nations remain locked into fossil fuel–dependent policies, risking failure of global climate targets.
