Bihar Van Mahotsav 2025 – Key Highlights

--Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the state level Van Mahotsav-2025 on 14th July.

• The initiative was launched under the aegis of the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, Government of Bihar.

• Target for 2025–26:
• The state aims to plant 5 crore saplings during the year 2025–26.
• This is aligned with the Green Mission of Bihar, focusing on expanding green cover and enhancing environmental protection.

• Historical Context:
• A similar statewide plantation campaign was launched in 2012 to increase green cover.
• A major initiative titled ‘Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali’ was launched in 2019 to address climate change and water conservation.

• This time the goal is to increase green cover in Bihar to 17% by 2030 under various environmental missions.

Present status:- State's green cover has reached 15.06%

Status of Proposed Nuclear Power Plant in Bihar
• Proposal Sent: A proposal has been sent to the Central Government to set up a nuclear power plant in Banka, Bihar.

To preserve dying folk arts, the Bihar government has approved the Mukhyamantri Guru-Shishya Parampara Yojana.

Under this:
• Guru (Master) will get ₹15,000/month
• Sangeetkar (Musician) will get ₹7,500/month
• Shishya (Disciple) will get ₹3,000/month

The scheme aims to promote traditional training in endangered art forms like folk tales, folk theatre, folk dance, folk music, classical music, instruments, classical art, and painting.
