This unit, with an investment of βΉ3,300 crore and a daily capacity of 60 lakh chips, is part of the government's initiative to develop a robust semiconductor ecosystem in India.
This is the 5th semiconductor manufacturing plant being set up in India.
In 2023 and 2024, 4 semiconductor units were approved by the Union Cabinet with Micron Technologies and CG Power setting up 1 unit each and Tata Technologies setting up two units. These 4 units will bring an investment of almost Rs 1.5 Lakh crore and have cumulative capacity of 7 crore chips per day.
