1. On 24 July 2024, the Bihar Legislative Assembly passed the Bihar Public Examination Bill (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill 2024 with the aim of preventing question paper leaks and other
malpractices in government recruitment examinations in the state.

2. This bill provides for imprisonment of 3 to 5 years and a fine of Rs 20 lakh.

3. Earlier, the law made in Bihar in 1981 had a provision of 6 months' imprisonment.

BIHAR PUBLIC EXAMINATION BILL, 2024:-

• This bill provides for 3 to 5 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10 lakh.

• Under the new bill, the cost of the examination will also be recovered from the service provider and they will be blacklisted for 4 years.

• If any group is found involved, then there will be a punishment of 5 to 10 years and a fine of Rs 1 crore.

There is also a provision to confiscate the property of the institute.
