What is brominated vegetable oil recently banned by USA?
US' Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has banned the use of brominated vegetable oil (BVO) in food.
BVO is a complex mixture of triglycerides of vegetable origin that have been reacted to contain atoms of the element bromine bonded to molecules.
BVOs are used primarily as food stabilisers to help emulsify citrus-flavoured soft drinks, preventing them from separating during distribution.

No leap second added to time in 2024
No leap second will be added to universal time in 2024, the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS) announced.
The difference between Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and Universal Time (UT1) isn't great enough to warrant a change.
A leap second is added to UTC when it falls out of sync with UT1 due to Earth's inconsistent spin speed.
