VARIOUS NEWS SOURCES ON THE RESUMING OF SPL ▢️ https://sg.news.yahoo.com/spl-resumption-delayed-two-weeks-singapore-cup-cancelled-004852481.html (Yahoo SG) ➑️ https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/sport/spl-resume-closed-doors-july-singapore-cup-cancelled…
Thought it would be a good idea to gather some thoughts from the fraternity on their thoughts on the resuming next month.

I mean, there are so many we want to know from the coaches, players and fans on their opinions.

Like for those not involved in the recent National Team's assignment or the upcoming continental tournaments, how are they coping and what are they doing during the recess to maintain their well-being, etc.

Those three shared articles were merely echoed what the official statement sent out to the media.
TALKING TO COACH SATYASAGARA IN 2016

Speaking to Coach Satyasagara after the 2016 League Cup draw held at the Singapore Press Holdings.

Coach Satyasagara (formerly known as K Balagumaran) was the coach of Hougang United when I spoke to him in this picture.

Currently, he is the coach of Indian club Chennai City FC.

It is not that often I found myself talking to players, coaches or whatsoever, as seen in the picture.

Mainly because my focus is on photo taking and only when there is a need to gather some thoughts and quotes I would then talk to them.

And because of this inconsistency, I do find myself nervous, tongue tied when approaching them and usually, I would keep in short and sharp.

Another unconventional approach I adapted is the use of text messaging to gather quotes from the newsmakers.

Once I was told, it would be ideal to talk to the person face to face when conducting any interview but the reason for me using text messaging is to allow me and the other party to have a black and white as a record to avoid the hassle of misquoting, etc.

After all, I am not trained in doing this, so have to use the method I am more comfortable with.
Just something spontaneous and good morning everyone πŸ˜‰

This evening is another historical moment in Singapore football and Tampines Rovers are due to make their debut in the AFC Champions League tournament.

The Stags will be the second Singapore club after SAFFC to be featured in the elite continental club competition with veteran Daniel Bennett involving for the third time in his long illustrious career.

Although the harsh reality is this noteworthy moment is being overshadowed by the ongoing Euro2020 with everyone's favourite match due to take place.

But nonetheless, let's enjoy our football 😁

Juventus was the first team to take on a Singapore representative side at the new National Stadium in August 2014 but it was also the first time we saw the unsightly pitch that didn't allow Carlos Tevez to play.

WITHOUT "U23" QUOTA

It would be interesting to see how Tampines Rovers' coach Gavin Lee (file) going to strategize his maiden AFC Champions League match when the Stags be taking on Gamba Osaka on Friday evening (25/6).

STAGS STARTING XI FOR THEIR ACL DEBUT

Here is the line of both Tampines Rovers and Gamba Osaka in their opening AFC Champions League match (πŸ“· AFC tweet)

Good Luck to Stags
The result came no surprise to many.

This is, after all, an outing for Tampines Rovers is to gain experience and exposure by participating in top level football competition offered the AFC Champions League (ACL).

I added given such setting, result should be secondary in one of the tweet exchanges I had after the game but some beg the different, as winning mindset should be there in whatever competition we are taking part, reasoned the individual in response to my tweet which I added hopefully the Tampines players had brought their notepad to jot down what they learned.

Probably, having read the "notepad" suggestion, another individual asked would that suggestion be applied to the Lions who just completed their joint qualifiers in Saudi Arabia.

Without any hesitation, I replied "Yes" and there was my final input before I saw the exchanges carried on by others.

This is what they called an "international cap" awarded to any footballer who represented his national team.

As we see from this image, this is one such cap (πŸ“· alamy stock photo) awarded to one player who represented England in the 1966 World Cup.

The tradition of awarding cap like this started in the United Kingdom when players were awarded one when they represented their country in the 19th century.

Since then, the term "cap" would mean the number of international appearance for individual footballer.

Although, it is unheard of any such physical cap being awarded to Singapore footballers when they made their International appearance, perhaps we should start this practice for such appreciation?

Good evening folks,

I am not sure if anyone noticed I did not post stuff like Irfan's omission from BG Pathum's ACL campaign or Izwan Mahbud signed for Hougang United.

Mainly because I thought the abovementioned were already shared by other platforms and I wouldn't see any value added if I repeated the same information unless there are other snippets added on to make the stuff interesting.

For that is the reason why I shared the story on why it is called "cap" for each appearance made by players for their national teams.

Do stay tuned for tomorrow morning (28/6) when I will share some stuff I came across the past few days.

Till then, stay safe and healthy and have a great week ahead.
