The Hyde lab is interested in the signals that initiate Muller glia division post-light damage. My first research project was characterizing the role of leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) in the activation of cell proliferation in the undamaged zebrafish retina. I am also working on several experiments that are related to a genetic screen that the Hyde lab plans on performing to identify mutants in the regeneration pathway--I am developing a neuroD4:EGFP transgenic line for use in this screen and I am characterizing the extent of damage and regeneration in sheer zebrafish retinas. Finally, I am characterizing the chx10:EGFP transgenic line during retinal development and regeneration.

یکی از نکات مهم برای ایمیل دادن انتخاب آدرس ایمیل مناسب هست، در صورت نداشتن ایمیل آکادمیک ترجیحا یک ایمیل با نام و نام خانوادگی خود بسازید، از به کار بردن اسامی متفرقه یا غیر متعارف و غیر حرفه ای در آدرس ایمیل خود خودداری کنید. سعی کنید یک امضا در ایمیل خود ایجاد کنید که شامل نام و نام خانوادگی، تحصیلات و دانشگاه شما، لینک لینکداین یا وبسایت شما باشد. امضا باید کوتاه و ساده باشد.

نحوه ایجاد امضا (signature) در جیمیل:
ابتدا وارد setting در گوشه سمت راست شده و see all setting را انتخاب نمایید، در قسمت پایینتر این بخش signature قابل مشاهده میباشد. سپس گزینه create new را انتخاب کرده و میتوانید اسم و سایر اطلاعات مورد نیاز را وارد نمایید.

نحوه ایجاد امضا در Outlook:
ابتدا به بخش setting در گوشه سمت راست بروید، سپس بر روی گزینه all settings کلیک کنید، پنجره ای ظاهر میشود که در بخش compose and reply, میتوانید امضای خود را تعیین نمایید.

پاسخ یکی از اساتید کانادایی من (با ملیت غیر کانادایی) در جواب سوال اینکه چرا اساتید کانادایی به ایمیل های دانشجویان کمتر پاسخ میدهند:
Ok,advice about how to get replies: As you know, professors in developed countries get many e-mails requesting PhD or MSc scholarships (at least 10 every 2 days).This means your e-mail should stand-out, as competition is high. If you aim to get an e-mail, avoid sending generic cover e-mails, do not list key words in the Profs. profiles, try to read the papers of the professor you are contacting. Write a couple of well curated, non-generic and insightful sentences. Make your e-mail short and snappy, highlighting the best of your CV.  Also, you will have better chances with full Profs. than Asst. or Assoc. Profs. They usually have less fundings. If you aim to get into Canada, focus on those that are Canada Chairs Tier 1 or 2.

-از شکلک ها و ایموجی ها به هیچ وجه استفاده نکنید
-حتما در ساعات اداری به ویژه صبح ها ایمیلتون رو ارسال کنید
-اساتید روی اسمشون حساس هستند حتما درست بنویسید
-در انتها چندین بار ایمیل رو چک کنید که غلطهای املایی و گرامری نداشته باشید
-از امضای مناسب برای ایمیل خود استفاده کنید

🟪همونطور که در پست های قبلی مربوط به نحوه ارسال #ایمیل در کانال گفته شد بود:
برای اساتید خانم از Dear sir استفاده نکنید(ایمیل فله ای🚫)
حتما عنوان آکادمیک( Dr/Prof) اساتید خانم رو استفاده کنید چون خیلی براشون حائز اهمیت هست

چرا اساتید به ایمیل شما پاسخ نمیدهند:
۱. فاند ندارند و نمیتوانند شما را از لحاظ مالی ساپورت کنند
۲. یکسان نبودن ریسرچ اینترست های شما و زمینه تحصیل و تحقیق شما با استاد مد نظر
۳. ساختار و متن ایمیل شما و جملات شما مناسب نبوده و یا خوشایند استاد واقع نشده است
۴. گروه آنها تکمیل شده و نیاز به دانشجوی جدید ندارند
۵. ممکن است ایمیل شما را دریافت نکرده باشند (ایمیل اسپم شده باشد)
۶. زمان نامناسب (ساعات شبانه، آخر هفته ها)، تفاوت ساعات رو بررسی کنید
۷. استاد قبلا دانشجوی🚩 ایرانی داشته و راضی نبوده
۸. ایمیلتون طولانی هست، هر ایمیل نباید بیشتر از ۴۵۰-۵۰۰ کلمه باشد.
۹. راجع به رزومه خودتون و کارهایی که انجام دادید بیش از حد لزوم توضیح دادید، رزومه خودتون را الصاق کنید و اجازه بدید توضیحات بیشتر رو در رزومه چک کنند

A GRA position is available from Spring or Fall 2024 in the Sustainable and Digital Agriculture Lab group at the University of Missouri-Columbia. This position focuses on the development and application of advanced agriculture technologies (remote and proximal sensing using UAV or satellite-based imaging, IoT sensors, and crop eco-physiological equipment) for agricultural sustainability and environmental conservation.
Looking for self-motivated students who have a degree in agricultural/biological systems engineering, plant science, and soil science with a research focus on agricultural technologies, computer science, electrical engineering, or similar degrees. Preferred skills include sensor system development and evaluation in cropping systems, and experience in computer vision, IoT, big data analysis, and artificial intelligence. Potential activities include but are not limited to field research, including sensor integration and installation, UAV flights, field data collection and analysis, geostatistical analyses, and report writing. The candidate should be able to develop publishable journal articles and present results at national and international conferences. فاند یعنی پول و سرمایه ... شما الان بخوای یه سفر بری باید فاندش کنی، یعنی سرمایه‌شو تامین کنی. حالا بعضیا وقتی اپلای میکنن به طرق مختلف فاند میشن. یعنی یکی مثلا خود دانشگاه بخشی از هزینه مثل پول شهریه (پارت فاند) یا تمام هزینه‌های دانشگاه و زندگی (فول فاند) رو تقبل میکنه.

اسکالرشیپ یه جایزه‌اس که به دلایل مختلفی به افراد تعلق میگیره ... الان مثلا خدا کمک کنه من پولدار شم یه روزی مثلا یه اسکالرشیپ راه میندازم که به دانشجوهای ایرانی کمک کنم! اینا هم سال به سال رزومه میفرستن و تعدادیشون «برنده» میشن! اکثرا هم انگیزه تامین کننده شخصیه.

فلوشیپ یه فرصت مالیه که دانشگاه ممکنه در اختیارتون قرار بده وقتی قراره مدرک تحصیلات تکمیلی بگیرید و حوزه فعالیتتون پیشرفته‌اس. این در واقع برای اینه که شما بتونید وارد دانشگاه بشید و با آدمای قوی‌تری مراوده داشته باشید و یک کار جدی رو شروع کنید!

گرنت که از همه اینا مهم‌تره و دلیل اصلی این که به شما فلوشیپ میدن یا هزینه‌هاتون تقبل میشه وجود مفهوم گرنته. یعنی یک ارگانی (معمولا دولتی و یا نظامی) میاد یه پولی رو تخصیص میده به یه پروژه‌ای. ادمای مختلفی پروپوزال میفرستن که اکثرا هم استاد دانشگاهن و اون ارگان میاد انتخاب میکنه که این گرنت به کی برسه! بعد میان اون پول رو میدن به اون گروه برنده میگن فرضا با این چند میلیون دلار فلان کارو بکن! اون استاد هم میگه چشم میاد با یک میلیون دلارش مثلا سه تا دانشجو میگیره (هزینه تحصیل و حقوق و اینها) با یکی دو میلیون دلار دیگه‌اش دستگاه میخره، مثلا یه هزینه خوبی هم بابت تجهیزات و تدارکات آزمایشگاهش میده، یه هزینه خیلی خیلی خوبی هم به دانشگاه میده(یکم کمتر از کل پول) تهشم هر چی موند برمیداره برای خودش.
