Good morning parents! It's a brand new week, and I thought of sharing this that I really love and is applicable to our children. This is from the book - Atomic Habits by James Clear.

We all want the best for our kids and I am sure goal setting with your child is not foreign to you. From my experience and observation, children who will reach their goals and continue to do well in their life, are really those with consistent good habits and a well-placed routine set at home.

These habits encourage discipline and stability, allowing your child to work on their progress in small ways and also motivate them to be a better person.

Without discipline, anyone would feel lost, confused, unmotivated and be labelled easily as lazy, stupid, etc.
Usually, these children would have low confidence and motivation.

Here's some suggestions on instilling a routine that our kids would find it easy and attractive to follow:

1) Have VISUAL cues placed in their line of movement e.g. packing bags the night before - place their bags in the hallway or an area that your child will certainly pass by.

2) Make it EASY - e.g. place their class timetable at their eye level / or a comfortable place and distance so they can refer to it easily during packing.

3) Reward the behaviour - e.g. Praise your child for packing the bag on their own. Add in a positive gesture to the praise - pat the shoulder
[HOLD BACK criticisms or comments like Aiyah, why you never put this in AGAIN? Always so last min!]

I hope these tips are useful and will go a long way to establish routine at home :)
