republicans on the house financial services committee just released a 50 page report on operation chokepoint 2.0
- report identifies at least 30 entities that were debanked through informal guidance
- Fed, FDIC, OCC all used non-objection letters, pause letters, informal guidance to prevent or pressure banks from touching crypto
- SEC enacted “enforce first, make rules never” approach and blocked bank custody with SAB 121
- regulators publicly denied discouraging crypto while privately pressuring banks to stop
we know most of this already but great to have it in the record
