The Bahir Dar Institute of Technology (BiT-BDU) at Bahir Dar University has successfully concluded the 14th EAI International Conference on Advancements of Science and Technology (EAI ICAST 2026). This major international forum brought together local and international researchers to share innovative scientific advancements.
A Year of Preparation and High-Level Support
Stated at the closing Remarks, Mitiku Damtie (PhD), Scientific Director of the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, highlighted that organizing this grand event required a year of intensive labor and extensive preliminary preparations. He emphasized that both Bahir Dar University and BiT-BDU hosted this prestigious international conference with the highest level of strategic focus and institutional support.
In his message to the participants, Dr. Mitiku expressed his gratitude: "Thank you for being part of ICAST-2026. We are thrilled to host you, and we wish you an inspiring, productive, and memorable conference. Welcome to Bahir Dar, and welcome to BiT-BDU!"
Expressing Gratitude and Recognizing Contributors
The Scientific Director extended his deepest appreciation to all entities that contributed to the success of the conference. This included a special vote of thanks to the institutions that provided vital financial backing, as well as the individuals who served diligently across various organizing committees.

Computing Faculty at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology-Bahir Dar University Holds Staff Get-Together Program

The Faculty of Computing at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology (BiT), Bahir Dar University, held a staff get-together program on October 4, 2026, creating an opportunity for staff members to strengthen relationships, share experiences, and enjoy time together.
The program was opened by Dr. Tesfa Tegegne, Dean of the Faculty, followed by a brief faculty summary report presented by Mr. Derejaw Lake, Academic Program Officer.
The gathering featured informal discussions, lunch and coffee time, peer interaction, and recreational games, providing staff with an opportunity to know each other better and strengthen the spirit of teamwork.
A valuable experience-sharing session was also held with senior faculty staff members Mr. Assefa and Mr. Molla, who shared professional and life experiences from their long-standing contributions to the university and the country. Among their notable contributions is the Student Information Management System (SIMS), currently used by around 30 higher education institutions, including Bahir Dar University.
The program concluded with peer discussions, games, and a closing session, leaving staff with a memorable experience of connection, collaboration, and togetherness.
