Dr. Birhanu Bulcha Delivers Public Lecture at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology

 Dr. Birhanu Bulcha, a researcher at NASA (U.S. Space Science) and founder of the Sheger Institute of Technology, delivered a public lecture at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology under the theme “Impacts of Hands-on STEEM Education and Innovation on Youth Empowerment and National Development.” The lecture was held at Washera Hall and attended by faculty, students, and staff.
The event was opened by Dr. Amare Kasaw, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, who welcomed the guests and emphasized that such lectures allow young people to learn from successful individuals and inspire them to achieve greater heights.
Dr. Birhanu explained that the Sheger Institute of Technology (SIT), established near Addis Ababa in Sheger City, provides full scholarships to outstanding students from across Ethiopia. Currently, the institute has enrolled 242 students, of whom 30% are female.
In his message to partners, Dr. Birhanu stated: “Your collaborations are part of something meaningful and historic.” He highlighted that SIT works with partners in areas such as academic excellence through student/ staff mobility, space science and aerospace technology, AI, cyber systems and smart city integration, energy, nuclear science, and advanced materials. He concluded with the vision: “Together, we are shaping Ethiopia’s future.”
Closing the program, Dr. Mitiku Damtie, Scientific Director of Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, thanked the guests for sharing their experience and expressed confidence that future collaborations will continue in partnership and solidarity.
