ELIC-BiT Held Successful Graduation, Closing Ceremony, and Final Competition Program

The English Language Improvement Center of Bahir Dar Institute of Technology (ELIC-BiT) has successfully conducted its Graduation, Closing Ceremony, and Final Competition Program in the presence of invited guests, academic staff, students, and program participants.
The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Dr. Asrat Drebe, Director of the Total Quality Assurance and Enhancement Office at Bahir Dar University; Dr. Amare Kassaw, Deputy Scientific Director of BiT; Dr. Muluken Zegeye, Research Deputy Scientific Director; and Dr. Amare Tesfie, Director of the Academic Quality Assurance and Enhancement Office.
A major highlight of the event was the final round of the Debate and Public Speaking Competition. Finalists demonstrated strong communication skills, critical thinking, confidence, fluency, and effective stage presence, reflecting the impact of the center’s training and mentorship programs.
During the ceremony, ELIC-BiT presented its annual performance report, outlining key achievements, training initiatives, and student engagement activities carried out throughout the year. The report emphasized the center’s role in enhancing English language proficiency and communication skills among students and academic staff.
The program also featured testimonies from participants who shared their experiences and reflected on the positive contributions of ELIC-BiT in improving their confidence, communication abilities, and academic participation.
In his remarks, Dr. Asrat Drebi commended the center for its impactful initiatives and noted that the successful practices of ELIC-BiT should be expanded and implemented across other campuses of Bahir Dar University.
The event concluded with the awarding of certificates and recognitions to English Language Improvement Program (ELIP) graduates, debate and public speaking competitors, competition winners, and active club participants.
Overall, the program successfully met its objectives of promoting English language development, strengthening communication skills, and fostering active student engagement and academic collaboration within the university community.

The Summer School on Renewable Energy Systems will be held in Indonesia, coordinated by the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics — Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and ITB–TUM SEED Center. The event runs from 27 July to 8 August 2026 in Bandung and Garut. Participants ( about 20-24 persons) are postgraduate (master’s and PhD program) students from both domestic and international backgrounds especially from partner universities.
Please encourage your students to apply this program by June 19th, 2026. Several scholarship for participating in this program will be provided by TUM SEED Center
