The competition provided a rigorous and engaging platform for the application of theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios, while fostering collaboration and critical thinking.

Huawei ICT Academy Kickoff and Orientation Program Successfully Held at Bahir Dar University.

Bahir Dar University, through its Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, has successfully conducted the Huawei ICT Academy Kickoff and Orientation Program, marking a significant milestone in strengthening academia–industry collaboration and advancing digital skills development.
The program officially commenced with a welcome address by Adugna Necho, who emphasized the importance of industry-aligned education and globally recognized certification pathways for students.
The highlight of the event was the official launch of the Huawei ICT Academy, led by Dr. Amare Kassaw. In his remarks, Dr. Amare underscored the Academy’s role in enhancing students’ employability, strengthening faculty capacity, and supporting the University’s broader digital transformation agenda.
A comprehensive presentation was delivered by Tamire Dawud, representing Huawei. His presentation highlighted key opportunities offered through the Academy, including student skill development programs, digital capacity-building initiatives, internationally recognized certification pathways, and long-term research and collaboration prospects between Huawei and the University.
The event featured active participation from students, instructors, ICT professionals, and administrative staff. An engaging question-and-answer session allowed participants to gain deeper insights into training opportunities, certification processes, and future collaboration avenues.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Amare Kassaw reaffirmed the University’s commitment to sustaining and expanding the Huawei ICT Academy, ensuring its long-term impact on both students and the broader technical community.
