Bahir Dar Institute of Technology Launches Startup Boot Camp for 21 Young Innovators Across Amhara Region

The Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University, through its Business Incubation and Techno-Entrepreneurship Center, in collaboration with the Amhara Regional Innovation and Technology Bureau and Wonfel Aid, has officially launched an Early-Stage Startup Boot Camp for 21 selected innovators from Grades 7–12 across the Amhara Region.
The program aims to nurture young talents demonstrating strong innovative potential and interest in science, technology, and entrepreneurship.
Dr. Muluken Zegeye, Deputy Scientific Director for Research and Technology Transfer, warmly welcomed the participants to the institute in Bahir Dar. He expressed his enthusiasm about the students’ potential to become future scientists, engineers, and startup leaders. He emphasized that the boot camp is designed to equip them with essential entrepreneurial skills, practical knowledge, and inspiration to transform their innovative ideas into successful ventures.
Dr. Amare Kassaw, Deputy Scientific Director for Academics, encouraged participants to focus on developing project ideas that address pressing local challenges. He also extended heartfelt appreciation to Wonfel Aid and the Amhara Regional Innovation and Technology Bureau for their commitment, collaboration, and continued support in advancing innovation within the region.
The training was officially inaugurated with opening remarks by Mr. Yechale Yigzaw, Deputy Head of the Amhara Regional Innovation and Technology Bureau. In his address, he underscored the importance of the Digital 2030 Strategic Plan and its role in empowering young students with promising innovative potential. He officially welcomed participants to the vibrant city of Bahir Dar and commended the strong partnership among the three organizing institutions that made the boot camp possible.
This Early-Stage Startup Boot Camp marks a significant milestone in strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Amhara Region. By providing mentorship, resources, and structured training, the initiative sets the foundation for cultivating a new generation of innovators and change-makers. BiT Career Development Centre Launches Three-Day Employability and Entrepreneurship Training for 2026 Graduates

The Bahir Dar Institute of Technology Career Development Centre (BiT-CDC) has officially commenced a three-day comprehensive training program focused on Employability and Job Readiness Skills and Design Thinking and Entrepreneurial Mindset for its 2026 graduating students.
The training was formally opened by Dr. Amare Kassew, Academic Deputy Scientific Director of the institute. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the critical importance of equipping graduating students with practical career skills to succeed in today’s dynamic and highly competitive labor market. He noted that beyond academic excellence, employability competencies and entrepreneurial thinking are essential for long-term career success.
Following the opening address, the Coordinator of the BiT Career Development Centre, Mr. Mulat Shitye, presented an overview of the Centre’s objectives, services, and planned activities. He highlighted how the training is designed to bridge the gap between academic preparation and workplace expectations, empowering students to confidently navigate job searching, professional development, and innovation pathways.
The training is facilitated by a dedicated team of experts, including Dr. Amare Tesfie, Netsanet Teshome, Gedam Tafere, Yohannes Ababu, Fasil Tariku, and Yared Assefa, who will guide participants through interactive sessions, practical exercises, and discussions over the three days.
This initiative demonstrates the institute’s strong commitment to preparing graduates not only as job seekers but also as creative thinkers and future entrepreneurs ready to contribute meaningfully to society.
