Bahir Dar Institute of Technology Launches Startup Boot Camp for 21 Young Innovators Across Amhara Region

The Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University, through its Business Incubation and Techno-Entrepreneurship Center, in collaboration with the Amhara Regional Innovation and Technology Bureau and Wonfel Aid, has officially launched an Early-Stage Startup Boot Camp for 21 selected innovators from Grades 7–12 across the Amhara Region.
The program aims to nurture young talents demonstrating strong innovative potential and interest in science, technology, and entrepreneurship.
Dr. Muluken Zegeye, Deputy Scientific Director for Research and Technology Transfer, warmly welcomed the participants to the institute in Bahir Dar. He expressed his enthusiasm about the students’ potential to become future scientists, engineers, and startup leaders. He emphasized that the boot camp is designed to equip them with essential entrepreneurial skills, practical knowledge, and inspiration to transform their innovative ideas into successful ventures.
Dr. Amare Kassaw, Deputy Scientific Director for Academics, encouraged participants to focus on developing project ideas that address pressing local challenges. He also extended heartfelt appreciation to Wonfel Aid and the Amhara Regional Innovation and Technology Bureau for their commitment, collaboration, and continued support in advancing innovation within the region.
The training was officially inaugurated with opening remarks by Mr. Yechale Yigzaw, Deputy Head of the Amhara Regional Innovation and Technology Bureau. In his address, he underscored the importance of the Digital 2030 Strategic Plan and its role in empowering young students with promising innovative potential. He officially welcomed participants to the vibrant city of Bahir Dar and commended the strong partnership among the three organizing institutions that made the boot camp possible.
