Bahir Dar University has launched a prestigious commercialization support aimed at recognizing innovative ideas from the community, university staff, and startups across its campuses. Out of an impressive pool of 50 potential commercialization ideas, five (5) standout business idea have been selected for the final award. Notably, four (4) of these top five finalists are startups from Business incubation and Techno-Entrepreneurship center (BiTec). Congratulations to BiTec Startups: -Nile Agricultural Manufacturing Engineering (NAME) PLC, Gow Ultrasound Gel Plc, Fresh Solution Preservative Plc, and Afri-Top Eco-Paint Binder Plc for their remarkable achievement in winning the Bahir Dar University Startup Commercialization Grant! this accomplishment underscores the exceptional potential and pivotal role that the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology's Business Incubation and Techno-Entrepreneurship Center plays in fostering innovation, and driving the startup ecosystem forward in Ethiopia. BiT- BDU through its Aerospace Science & Engineering Students’ Association (ASESA) Inspired Future Space Leaders

Bahir Dar Institute of Technology (BiT-BDU), in collaboration with the Aerospace Science and Engineering Students’ Association at Bahir Dar University, successfully hosted an engaging and inspiring program aimed at empowering students in the field of aerospace and space science.
The program was initiated by Mr. Nahoo Asteraye, Master of Ceremony, who welcomed participants and provided an overview of the event.
Mr. Melaku Kindie, President of the Aerospace Science and Engineering Students’ Association, introduced the objectives and structure of the program, while Mr. Kaleab Semunigus, President of the Student Union at BiT, highlighted the benefits of such gatherings in fostering student collaboration and professional growth.
The event was officially opened by D.r Muluken Temsegn the Dean of BiT-BDU, alongside the Office of the Research Directorate, who introduced the Guest of Honor, Ms. Emebet Muhabaw.
Ms. Emebet Muhabaw, a distinguished Aerospace Engineer, Titans Space Career Astronaut Candidate (03/2029), IAF Emerging Space Leader 2025, SGAC NPoC of Ethiopia, African Space Leaders Award Winner ’24, and IAAC Ambassador, shared her journey, offered insights into space science careers, and actively engaged with participants during a dynamic Q&A session. She also pledged her continued support to students pursuing careers in aerospace.
The program concluded with remarks from Mr. Alebachew Alemu, leader of the Public Relations and Communication Team, Information and Strategic Communication Office, who emphasized the advantages of collaborative events in nurturing innovation, leadership, and professional development among students.
The event served as a valuable platform for knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and inspiration, reinforcing BiT-BDU’s commitment to developing future leaders in aerospace and related fields.
