Bitlocus CTO responds to certain Questions asked during Bitlocus official AMA
There were questions raised about asset and data security side of Bitlocus during a recent AMA, and as a CTO of Bitlocus, I am here to provide a more technical deep dive into the security details.
* How can you be sure that that the assets you store with Bitlocus will be safe?
There are two distinct safety mechanisms depending on the user type:
1) Registered Bitlocus users that use the Bitlocus exchange and other products can be assured that the assets they store with us are safe guaranteed by the Fireblocks and their MPC algorithm, they prevent unauthorised transactions using a Transaction Authorisation Policy, additionally the private keys are safe and sound because of their MPC algorithm, that ensures that no entity holds the full private key, the key is sharded into multiple parts and each part is stored in a cryptographically secure compute, rather than plain text.
TLDR: Each transaction must be done according to a policy and the private keys are secure
2) BTL token holders and stakers can be assured that the token itself and staking actions are safe, because we use audited smart contracts for tokens and the staking contracts provided by our partners. Always make sure to use staking/LP/etc. instruments provided on the site https://btl.bitlocus.com where you can also find more details and audits
* What about security of Bitlocus.com itself?
We are in the middle of performing a security audit of the website’s public surface by a third party audit company, that will evaluate the endpoints and configuration of our infrastructure for any vulnerabilities.
* What about the security of your account and data?
Above mentioned security audit also evaluates possible data leaks, thus preventing any unauthorised access of customer data. Regarding the access to user accounts themselves we employ a broad scope of security tools and heuristic procedures like 2FA checking, and monitoring of sessions/IPs/browsers to detect any malicious activity not intended to be performed by account holders and prevent incidents before they happen. We still ask you to keep your passwords and 2FA safe, and don’t enter them anywhere outside of https://app.bitlocus.com
