The SmartCash Blockchain Snapshot for Bitcoin Confidential is scheduled for December 15th, 2018 at 07:00 UTC. A minimum address balance of 1 SMART is required to be eligible for the airdrop. Make sure you have your coins on wallets where you control the private keys at the time of the snapshot.

This will be the only airdrop to determine the initial supply and genesis block unspent transaction set. There will be NO other airdrops. This is it.
Some issues with Monero at this academic review, "An Empirical Analysis of Traceability in the Monero Blockchain" (2018, Miller et al):

In this paper, we empirically evaluate two weaknesses in Monero's mixin sampling strategy. First, about 62% of transaction inputs with one or more mixins are vulnerable to "chain-reaction" analysis -- that is, the real input can be deduced by elimination. Second, Monero mixins are sampled in such a way that they can be easily distinguished from the real coins by their age distribution; in short, the real input is usually the "newest" input.
The SmartCash blockchain snapshot is complete and the data are being reviewed over the next few days. There were over 50,000 eligible addresses.
Seven exchanges and three wallets have confirmed interest in supporting Bitcoin Confidential. GitHub release and code review are necessary steps before announcing specific information.
A quick update. Another developer has been added to work on Bitcoin Confidential. We are moving forward, unfortunately not as fast as we initially anticipated. We may just be able to add a very innovative feature from the start which will make this all worth the wait.

ETA for release is Q1 2019, after quality assurance and testing is completed.
Will provide a new date when it's confirmed; these things require coordinating so everyone has wallet access for a fair launch with staking. Exchanges won't be immediate upon wallet release as they do their own code review, so that will also have additional time after release, which can be as short as five days to as long as two weeks depending on the exchange.
We are trying to get this release out as soon as possible and some people were bit overly optimistic but we want to get it right. It's much more problematic to do major changes after release. We want to get it right on day one. Q1 2019 is a realistic deadline. We could have released it already but there are features we want there on day one.
We have our first release ready. We are releasing a testnet only version to give everyone a look at the wallet and it's functions. In a week we will release the mainnet version.

This wallet will show you how the key importing works. If you import your SmartCash private key, it will convert that to a Bitcoin Confidential address and show your balance. You can also request some funds to test with if you don't feel comfortable importing your private key on a testnet release.

We know the looks are pretty plain on this wallet. A future version will update to proper color scheme. There may be a few fixes needed on this release. Please provide your feedback on how we can improve.

For Windows installer, after install start with the green blue testnet icon from start menu.
For Linux/Mac add the testnet flag like this: bitcoinc-qt -testnet
Or you can add testnet=1 in the bitcoinc.conf file in the data directory.
