You Can Now Buy and Sell Bitcoin and USDT in Bulk on Paxful, Africa’s Largest P2P Platform

Due to an increasing demand for crypto, Paxful has launched support options to buy and sell in bulk for both Bitcoin (BTC) and Tether (USDT) with a minimum order request of $10, 000 (USD).

According to Paxful, the new buy and sell bulk options allow anyone sourcing large amounts of crypto for their businesses to easily do that via the platform.

In a quick move to ensure continued operations, BuyCoins, a popular Nigerian exchange, has moved to fully collaterize the Naira Token (NGNT) stablecoin by USDC, a leading global digital dollar stablecoin.

The move is likely a response to the crypto ban by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) that warned financial institutions and deposit-taking firms from dealing with cryptocurrency exchanges.

Tesla Buys $1.5 Billion in Bitcoin and Plans to Accept it as Payment for Its Cars


Telsa, the world’s most valuable automaker, has disclosed that it has acquired $1.5 billion in bitcoin in an SEC filing.

In addition, the company noted that it may also accept bitcoin as a form of payment in future for its cars.

Bundle Africa, one of the fastest growing crypto apps in Africa, has said that it is working on its P2P platform and adding alternative channels to fund and withdraw from cash wallets following the recent crypto restrictions by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

In an email to users, the company said it is already working with partners to integrate alternatives while also expanding to support more users globally beyond Nigeria and Ghana.

Tesla Invests 7.7% of Gross Cash Holdings into Bitcoin

Tesla, the 7th largest company in the world by marketcap, has invested $1.5 billion or 7.7% of its gross cash holdings, into bitcoin.

In addition to this, the company has expressed interest in accepting bitcoin for car purchases in the future which will continue to be added onto its balance sheet, according to its latest SEC filing report.

Here is what CEO of MicroStrategy, the only other corporate company to have purchased more bitcoin as part of its reserves than Tesla, had to say about this move:

South African Financial Regulator, FSCA, Puts Out a Crypto Health Warning

The Financial Sector Control Authority (FSCA) of South Africa has put out a cautionary press release on crypto-related investments following a number of complaints on loss of savings in digital assets.

The press release says a number of South African investors have invested in crypto assets they did not understand, or scams packaged as crypto investments promising unrealistic high returns.

The Intergovernmental Fintech Working Group (IFWG) has launched Project Khokha 2 to explore the policy and regulatory implications of tokenization in the financial markets.

According to IFWG, an innovation hub that brings together key South African financial sector regulators, Project Khokha 2 will issue, clear, and settle debentures on distributed ledger technology using tokenized money in a minimum viable product (MVP) to inform policy and regulatory reflections.

SEC Nigeria Suspends Persons & Products Affected by the Crypto Ban Until they Can Operate Bank Accounts in Nigeria

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Nigeria (SEC Nigeria) has put on hold all persons and products from admittance into the SEC Regulatory Incubation Framework until they are able to operae bank accounts within the Nigerian banking system.

According to the press release, this decision has been informed by inquiries and comments that seem to imply there is perceived policy conflict between the SEC and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey, and rapper, Jay-Z, are giving 500 bitcoins to a new endowment fund, dubbed ₿trust, to fund Bitcoin development, initially focused on teams in Africa and India.

The fund is currently in search of 3 board members that will run the trust independently.

According to Jack, the fund will be set up as a blind irrevocable trust, taking zero direction from him and Jay-Z.
