Kuda Bank, the digital-only Nigerian-based bank, has raised $10 million – the biggest seed round ever to be raised in Africa.

The funding comes on the back of strong demand for its services both on the continent and for the African diaspora.

Kuda is one of Africa’s leading digital challenger banks and one of the fastest growing fintechs on the continent. The bank recently partnered with Binance, the largest crypto exchange by volume globally, becoming the first registered bank in Nigeria to be added as part of the Binance P2P payment options.

Binance is adding a Litecoin-Nigerian Naira trading pair - likely influenced by the surging Litecoin demand in Africa


Binance will soon be launching a Litecoin – Nigerian Naira trading pair on its platform, according to a recent update from the company.

LocalCryptos, a non-custodial P2P platform, recently reported that LiteCoin has seen a surge of 266% in Sub-Saharan Africa since its launch in June 2020 on the platform due to its low transaction fee.

A Swahili book on blockchain will soon be published and made available to the public.

The book is titled ‘Jielimishe Kuhusu Blockchain’ (Educate Yourself on Blockchain) and has been written by a Tanzanian blockchain advocate.

Swahili is the most widely spoken native language in Africa. Estimates of the number of people who speak Swahili range from 100 – 150 million people in Africa.

Swahili has frequently been touted as the official African language, especially with the upcoming Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) that is expected to see African countries trade more freely together.

Over 13 countries in Africa alone either speak or teach Swahili.

The Akoin cryptocurrency, created by Senegalese rapper, Akon, has officially gone live on the Bittrex Exchange.
