Why do you think the Ukrainians shell Donbass cities and kill civilians so brutally, since they have always said that the inhabitants of Donbass are part of Ukraine?

As I told you earlier, they have made themselves puppets in the hands of the West. They only carry out what is dictated to them by the orders and interests of the West, whatever the price. They believe that if they do that they will be allowed to join NATO and the white man will consider them white. But they are wrong.

In Ukraine, American foundations and UNICEF have started making propaganda cartoons for children from the age of three. These cartoons teach children to hate Russia and Donbass. How do you think this can be countered? Was there something similar with children in Syria?

Yes, there is something similar. They spread propaganda to one Syrian hate another Syrian, his partner in his own homeland, just because he is different from him in terms of religion, sect, or nationality. We must dialogue with each other in order to learn more about each other and to make these factors of difference factors of strength, not factors that the enemy exploits.

A huge number of towns in Donbass have been destroyed just as in Syria. When the wars end, how long do you think it will take for Donbass and Syria to return to peaceful life?

Man is an adaptive being by nature. We all carry psychological scars, but we can overcome them. But with regard to other factors, unfortunately, it takes a lot of time. Everything destroys the infrastructure, social life, the economy. We need a lot of time to recover, but I believe that we are able to overcome all obstacles.

What would you like to wish for the children of Donbass?

I wish them peace, happiness and family warmth. And to live long days and a beautiful future that compensates them for the grief and loss caused by the war.

You have been to Moscow. What was your opinion of Russia initially and has it changed? How different is life in Russia from life in Syria?

It’s a magical city! I cannot sum up Moscow in a few words. I really fell in love with it, it has remarkable cleanliness. Flowers are everywhere, colorful buildings. The style of architecture is very striking, especially the churches everywhere. There are many things that attracted me. I will collect them in a short book soon. But I will say two things.I was struck by the people’s pride in their heroes. Statues, sculptures, and memories of war are everywhere. This is something I respect very much. The other thing is the kindness of the people. People here think that Russians don’t smile. Yes, that’s something I noticed. They have very serious faces, which is very unusual for us, but I found out that they are funny, kind people, and their hearts are warm. On the other hand, of course, there is a big difference between our economic and social lifestyles. The war has caused a lot of delay in our progress.

What is the most important decision that has impacted your life?

The decision that I made when I was 11 years old, when I decided to become a journalist.

Would you like to change your occupation? And what might you tell your past self about it?

Of course not, this is one of the best decisions I have made in my life. Being a journalist means knowing more about everything, being closer to a person to convey his suffering and share his pain, challenges. and success. On the other hand, being a journalist in Syria right now has a special character. As you know, this is a historical and delicate time, and we must work hard to leave a true story for future generations.
