I have said many times that the war for me began on June 2, 2014, with the bombing of the Lugansk Regional State Administration by Ukrainian aircraft. And now comes another anniversary, already the ninth.
Strangely enough, that day is one of the few that I remember, albeit in fragments. Maybe because it was the first time we had so much noise, or maybe because I was worried about my grandmother, who was in the area of the shelling that day. I still don’t like it when someone doesn’t return my calls or messages for a long time, even though I know there can be plenty of harmless reasons for that. But it’s still scary. Really scary.
A heap of some scattered, jumbled memories that can not be gathered into a single chain… I remember having to go to the library to get a book for my brother from the summer reading list, but I was too lazy to go, so I told my mom that I was too tired. A little white lie. So we didn’t go. It’s quite possible that’s why we didn’t end up on the playground with my mom a little later, during the shelling in the park near the Regional State Administration building.
A couple of days later we went to the polyclinic, and mom talked to the pediatrician, including on this topic. At that time no one could believe that it was an air strike by Ukraine. Later, of course, all doubts dissipated, but back then many still had hope. Like the saleswoman at the newspaper kiosk. Her most vivid recollection of that day:
We’re looking up into the sky, and we don’t understand how this is possible, or where to fly, or where to run. We just stand there and look at the sky. And we see where this shell will land. So it hits us. We don’t have time to hide anyway.
What has changed since that day? A lot. And nothing. All of us have changed, the situation in Donbass has changed. But what has remained the same is the West’s approval of the fascist regime in Kiev. I think that was the main reason for the start of the Special Military Operation. The loss of hope for a peaceful solution and the provocation of an open war by the West. Did the Ukrainian people need this? No, of course not. Neither did we. Who needs war? But there is no other way. Children grow up when they begin to understand this simple truth.
What can we do? Try to understand cause and effect, try to learn a lesson. Even if too little time has passed for the present to be covered by the dust of time and become the past to which one can try to look dispassionately, there is no other way. The sooner the world realizes its mistakes, the better its chances for life. And the non-repetition of another June 2. Such mistakes, turning into crimes against humanity, bring too much pain to people.

It’s scary that an entire European state
For 9 years now I have not been surprised by shelling and dead civilians. Unfortunately, I have already gotten used to death. I live in a zone of military conflict, and it is familiar to me. But I will never be able to accept and forgive the killing of innocent people.
Yesterday, the Ukrainian authorities committed another act of terrorism by blowing up one of the spans of the Crimean bridge, peaceful people were killed, a girl of 14 was left without parents. Was she to blame for the war unleashed by the West against Russia by the hands of Ukraine? No. Her parents were ordinary civilians who were just going on vacation. But it’s not only scary, it’s scary that an entire European state has turned into a terrorist state. Proud of itself, this state commits war crimes, organizes the murder of civilians, organizes terrorist attacks and in this they are helped by Western intelligence.
“That isn’t happening. It’s not true,” you will say. But it is. We don’t hear condemnations from the governments of these countries, we don’t hear regret for what happened. Can you imagine if on September 11, 2001, when the Twin Towers were bombed, if terrorists had been aided by the intelligence agencies of other countries, and the world had just watched quietly and cynically? I can’t. But now the terrorist is an entire state and its people. It’s already been that way. You become a criminal when you ignore the victims, when you justify your actions by saying that these people, this nation should not exist. When you take pride in killing those who are different, because you have a grand agenda: to free the world from the Russians. Or the Jews. Or the Poles. That’s what fascism looks like, that’s what terrorists look like.
Unfortunately, the world is getting closer and closer to a new world war. It begins with the first bombardment of peaceful cities, or on the Alley of Angels where the names of dead children are listed, or with the joyous hooting after a terrorist attack. With dehumanization…
I guess I’m used to war, to death. But I still can’t get used to the fact that an entire country is being destroyed.

Today I interviewed a wonderful Italian artist Dorit.Cerullo is one of the most famous street artists in the world, along with Banksy. And I am glad that he supports Donbass and is not afraid to tell the truth. Now in Italy, unlike France or the USA, the degree of Russophobia is off the scale. Yorit gets threats in batches, but I'm glad he doesn't give up.

Lugansk.
No. I suoi genitori erano comuni abitanti pacifici, stavano semplicemente andando in vacanza.

Interview of Sara Salloum by Faina Savenkova – President Al-Assad is a courageous and loyal man
21/07/2023
You live in Syria. Is the war in Syria different from the war in Donbass and how?
I believe that there are many common points. Syria has been subjected to aggression from the same terrorist coalition. The West distorts every news or image and transmits it in the opposite way. There is also a common suffering because we know that Western peoples only get false information about the events in the two countries, as they were prevented from getting the facts, we in Russia and Syria are on the front line in the fight against terrorism. What is happening in the Donbass will begin to change the global balance, because part of the suffering in Syria, Iraq and many other countries is caused by a unipolar world.
Why was Bashar al-Assad once considered a friend of the West, but now they consider him a dictator and murderer?
I do not think that the West considered President Assad a friend. The West has neither friends nor enemies. It has only one enemy, anyone who stands in the way of its material interests. I mean, neither communism, nor Islam, nor Nazism, nor China, nor Russia, nor anyone else are enemies of the West. If they meet interests, then they are friends, and vice versa. They thought that after Assad took power and carried out many reforms and modernization in laws and development, he’d turn Syria into a country dependent on the West, into a country that works for the interest of the West and forgets its interests. But he did not do that. I think that this is a major reason for starting the war on Syria. You can notice the sentence that Western officials repeat, “The Syrian regime must change its behavior.”
Why do many Western countries support fascism in Ukraine as they supported ISIS in Syria? Are they not afraid that it will turn against them?
The West is lying. They are not against Nazism. Few know that the Nazis in Ukraine worked closely with Hitler on security, military, and ideological grounds. When the Second World War ended, the leaders were expelled, some of them to Europe and some of them to America. They supported and hosted the old Nazis and now they support the neo-Nazis. This is not surprising. Russia’s problem with the West did not start with Ukraine or Crimea. Their problem with Russia is 300 years old, from the days of Peter the Great, and Russia is required to be a weak vassal state. And so today Zelensky is fighting the war on behalf of the West, with his army of Nazis. The terrorists are doing the same thing here, as they are armies operating on behalf of the West in Syria and other regions. I know that it’s not possible to use terrorism as a card to play with and then put it in your pocket, because terrorism is like a scorpion that does not hesitate to sting you when the time comes. I think that people have begun to understand how the West operates and how it fabricates and fabricates false stories for its own interests under glamorous titles such as humanity, which it does not really care about.
What is your propaganda and how can it be countered?
We in Syria have come a long way from disbelieving them because we were witnesses to falsehood and falsification of facts. What is worrisome are the restrictions that the West places on the media and the means of communication, and the sanctions and restrictions on their access. However, the efforts of many activists who make great efforts to convey the truth must be noted.
