The Bird Poem submitted by Carol P.
A bird, by its very nature, has a very beady eye
It can spot a tiny speck of food from way up in the sky
And from this higher viewpoint, it sees the scenes around
Unlike those who are so close they only see the ground
They see only their surroundings, not what else is going on
That’s why they’re apt to shoot the bird if it sings a different song
But, like a canary in a coalmine, this BIRD has a warning for all
And we’d do well to heed it or we’re heading for a fall …
So, before you believe the ‘big shots’ who’d shoot this bird from the sky
Ask what, or who, they’re protecting, and what’s their reason ‘why’
Ask who is it who pays their Bill, or what are they trying to sell
Because ignorance and obedience lead to the Gates of Hell

👩🏽🔬 International Day of Women and Girls in Science
Over the past decades, the global scientific community has increased efforts in inspiring women and girls. Yet they continue to be underrepresented in STEM fields.
Today, we're featuring 12 women that have done important things in the field of science. Some were unable to fully participate in their fields while others were denied credit for their groundbreaking work.
worldcouncilforhealth.org/news/2022/02/girls-women-in-science/43412
We must continue to challenge the gender stereotypes that pigeonhole women into certain roles around the world. This doesn’t mean all women must work out of the home and have STEM careers; it means we need freedom of choice for women to access and pursue the same education and careers as men if that’s what they choose.
To all girls and women on this day: you are powerful, you are valuable, and you are not alone!
