Li was head of Google Cloud’s AI division amid Project Maven, a collab with the US DoD that weaponized AI for drone strikes.

Project Maven was halted in the US after employee protests. But rather than end it altogether, Google moved it to China.

Li is reported to be the one who led Google’s efforts to build AI operations in Beijing. Under CCP constitution, tech must be shared with the CCP and military.

She was appointed to Twitter's board of directors in 2020, before Musk dissolved it.
