🏛Designed by the FMCSA & mandated by FMCS regulations Part 391, it’s an effort to ensure that drivers're qualified & competent to safely operate a CMV.

4️⃣Medical Examiner’s Certificate;a physical exam must be conducted by a DOT-approved medical examiner;

5️⃣Road Test Certificate or Equivalent:the road test evaluates a driver’s ability to handle a CMV, including tasks like turning, braking&parking;

6️⃣Motor Vehicle Record:obtained from the state(s) where the driver holds or has held a license in the past year & detailing license suspensions, revocations, traffic violations &more.

7️⃣Driver’s Statement of Violations: Annually, drivers must provide a list of all violations from the previous 12 months or a statement that they had none.

🤔What is a Rider Policy & what pros or cons does it have in trucking?

📝A Rider Policy in the trucking industry permits drivers to have a passenger, be it a spouse or a friend, accompany them on their long hauls.

2️⃣Hazardous Materials Training Certificate: if the driver will be hauling hazardous materials, company should keep HMTC in DQ file;

3️⃣Drug/Alcohol Policy Receipt: Trucking companies that employ CDL drivers are required to implement drug and alcohol test policy.

*Hence they need to keep a copy of the receipt after each test has been conducted, in the DQ file.

🤔What's a slack adjuster & how does it work?

📯A slack adjuster on a semi-truck is a vital lever arm component in an air brake system.

⚙️It connects the brake chamber's pushrod to the brake camshaft, converting linear pushing motion into rotational force & automatically or manually compensating for brake lining wear to maintain safe stopping power!

💡How It Works:

1️⃣Brake Application: on pressing the brake pedal, compressed air fills the brake chamber & pushes a metal pushrod out;

2️⃣Force Transfer: The pushrod pushes on the end of the slack adjuster, causing it to pivot & rotate the attached camshaft (S-cam);

3️⃣The Stop: The turning S-cam forces the brake shoes outward against the inside of the brake drum, creating the friction needed to stop the truck;

4️⃣Wear Compensation: As brake pads/linings wear thin over time, the gap between the shoe&drum grows;

⚠️An automatic slack adjuster uses an internal clutch&gear to sense this extra movement&self-adjusts during releases!

🤔What are Reflectors,how are they used on semi trucks & why are they important?

🔴🔻🟥Reflectors are safety devices made of special material bouncing light back to its source to make semi-trucks clearly visible in the dark or during bad weather.

💡Here are some types:

1️⃣Retroreflective tape: Also known as DOT-C2 tape, this special tape returns light directly to the driver whose headlights shine on it;

2️⃣Hard plastic lenses: These mounted units resist weather & damage while serving the same bouncing-light purpose;

3️⃣Colors: Amber (orange-yellow) is used on the front and sides, while red is used on the rear;

⚠️Drivers in cars can see a long trailer blocking the road before they get too close.

📍Unlike regular lights, reflectors still work if the truck loses its battery or electrical power.
