Ani: The narrative Labour & the unions are running on the Equal Pay Act is completely dishonest. They should be called out for lying & scaremongering.
The Act was amended to make it more clear that for assessing undervalued women-dominated workforces eg care workers they must be compared to similar workforces not admin being compared to civil engineers as has happened. No one’s pay is being cut. The criteria is simply tighter if you want to take a collective action claim.
Now if they want to talk about the fact that the govt pushed this thru under urgency I am on Labour’s side. I hate the use of urgency like this. I always advocate for public consultation.

Three siblings rescued from house of horrors after ‘COVID syndrome’ parents kept them locked inside since 2021
The siblings — 8-year-old twins and a 10-year-old — were finally freed from the home in Oviedo in Spain’s northwest on Monday after being locked inside since 2021, local outlet El Comercio reported.
“As soon as we got them out, all three children began to breathe deeply, as if they had never been outside before,” an investigator said.
The parents have been arrested on domestic violence and child abandonment charges.
