“There is no visual impact at all”

So says Genesis Energy Chief Executive Malcolm Johns speaking on Newstalk ZB this morning about his 93 hectare solar farm on the Canterbury plains.

This is just one of the many claims Mr Johns made about the new $105 million Lauriston solar farm, made from 90 thousand Chinese manufactured solar panels.

Malcolm also said the land can still be used to farm as normal, as sheep are still able to graze on the grass growing under the panels.

Mr Johns also says alternative thermal sources will still be needed for decades to come. Right now Genesis is stockpiling a million tonnes of coal at its Huntly power station.

Lauriston is rated to supply 65 MW of power. Yesterday it peaked around 10 MW for maybe two hours.

Genesis is 51% owned by the govt and the ultra woke Barbara Chapman is its chairwoman.
