This week @Stats_NZ will release 🇳🇿 population
projections to 2078 - useful info for central & local govt officials. A possible contributor to our infrastructure deficit is that almost every mid-range projection since the mid-1970s has understated actual growth (often by a lot).

Whereas in the 1950s and 60s we appeared to be bullish on population growth, and were planning to hit 5 million by 2000.

Seems hard to believe only 21 years ago we were planning to hit a peak population in the 2050s that was just above 5 million.
