India GDP growth reached 7.8% in Q1 FY27, with real GDP at ₹81.36 lakh crore and strong GVA, services and investment growth, MoSPI data showed.

🚨 BREAKING: Ukrainian Drone Strike Damages Ust-Luga Port; Russia Warns Japan Over “Typhoon” Missiles
A Ukrainian drone attack damaged Russia’s Ust-Luga port on the Baltic Sea early September 1, triggering a fire, according to Leningrad Governor Aleksandr Drozdenko.
Drozdenko later said 52 Ukrainian drones were shot down during the attack. Ust-Luga is a major Russian oil-export hub, making the strike significant for crude and refined-product flows.
Separately, Russia’s Foreign Ministry urged Japan to return to a pacifist policy, reiterated that Russian sovereignty over the Southern Kurils is indisputable, and warned that deploying “Typhoon” missiles in Japan would be unacceptable even if presented as military exercises.

Eurostat reported August CPI rose 3.3% YoY, up from 2.9% in July. This is the highest rate since September 2023. The increase is driven partly by the Iran war and stronger eurozone economic activity. This supports ECB tightening. Markets expect a 25 bps hike on Sept. 10 and further increases. A September hike would make the ECB the most hawkish G7 central bank.
