Story Time

This happened on the new year eve. As usually me and my buddy didn't have any solid plan for the eve so we talked on the eve to go out and have fun. He, his team mate and I decided to go to new year eve party and apparently ID is required which I totally forgot. So I went to his place as we move from there. I rode bike for more than an hour cause maps decided to take me in a closed road πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ and it was like 0Β°C and I had to have my phone on that freezing weather because it became unreliable 😭. Then I sat there for like 5 minutes and he tells me I should have my ID with me so I have to back to my place. This time I decided to take tube than ride a bike. Now all is good, went back and met them at the place. The place had a wide range of people where some are 18 and some are like 50+ πŸ˜‚. Those 18 kids are giant besmam. I feel like they can see through my middle head into my skull 😭😭😭. Terrifying experience. Now the cool part was we started to dance when the music starts. For the first time ever I got compliment for my dances 😁 and fyi they're not my friends nor black πŸ™Œ. Sensetional isn't it πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ gentlemen hide your ladies from me πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

Hike concluded πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ

So apparently I got lost during the hike and I usually get lost. Here are the main three reasons. First one for some reason my minds comes with a different place than the actual place I've to go to. The second one is maps leads to a closed road. And the third one which happened yesterday was my phone died in the middle of nowhere 😭😭😭. So I didn't hitch hike but I did that country side scene when the actors go through a barren road where only cars pass by with no pedestrian. I was the only pedestrian on the road Istg 😭. Unexpected but it was fun. Today I'll be staying home probably doing nothing having chat with friends and families.

🀍 Dagmawi Babi's Meetup

This year I'm starting with a new and independently organized Dagmawi Babi event! πŸŽ‰

Dagmawi Babi's Meetup is the first of it's kind event organized by Dagmawi Babi and his team as a thank you to all the incredible individuals, creators, event organizers, companies and communities improving and accelerating the tech and design ecosystem.

It's a thank you for taking risks, for pioneering new ventures, for taking the blame, for investing so much of yourself into the benefits of everyone else, for spending months building epic things, for spending countless nights preparing events, for imagining a community that can be much better than what it is and working towards your vision.

We're going to spend an incredible full day where we listen to insightful keynotes, explore project showcases, attend a live podcast (Devtopia), hold an in-person Creator Awards (by Codenight) and so much more.

The date is Jan 24, 2026 and the event will take place at DxValley 2.0. So if all of this sounds like your type of event, register at dagmawi.dev/meetup and claim your ticket. Make sure to select "Attending" from the options.

Thank you again and I can't wait to see you there! Yours truly @Dagmawi_Babi

Happy New and Productive Week Everyone.
❀2
Let's start the week with one of the mostly asked interview question which is "Tell me about yourself". In this question you're expected to tell yourself in 2-3 minutes for most cases. First it feels like a lot of minutes if you're not organized and try to answer it on spot because you can't remember everything at a time. But if you're also remember your achievements, I'm sure you'll find a lot to talk about which makes you think 2-3 minutes are unfair. So here is my suggestion be well prepared ahead and talk only about your achievements that would impact the position you're applying for. The recommended mechanism is to tell about your present like who you're currently, where are you working/studying, and what you're working on if possible, then talk about your past which could be your experience/background and anything that can support your application and finally about your future and position, this one as who you'd like to be and indirectly hint how this position affects your future and you're a perfect match for it.

- My friends "How can you forget this?"
- Meanwhile me going to kitchen to do stg, forgets it then be back just closing the kitchen door then think back again why I went to the kitchen for another five minutes just to repeat the cycle 😭

Let’s talk about the β€œWhy us?” question.

It’s kind of like when a girl randomly asks you, β€œWhy me?”
And you already know the wrong answers:
β€œBecause you’re beautiful.”
β€œBecause you’re smart.”

Sure, those things might be true but how many guys do you think say the exact same thing? πŸ™„
Generic answers don’t make anyone feel chosen.

What actually stands out is attention to detail. Remembering the small things. Showing that you see her, not just the idea of her.

The same logic applies to companies.

A lot of candidates say:

> β€œBecause your mission and values align with me.”

And honestly? Recruiters hear that all day long.

What makes your answer different is being specific.

Do real research on the company. Look into their programs, culture, values, and initiatives. Then connect those to your own experiences and stories.

For example, in one of my interviews, I knew the company had a strong mentorship program. I also had prior experience both being mentored and mentoring others. So instead of giving a vague answer, I said I was excited about their mentorship culture because I had firsthand experience with it, explained what I learned from it, and how it shaped the way I work today.

You’re not just saying you align with them, you’re proving it with your story.

So when you answer β€œWhy us?”, don’t be generic.
> Be intentional.
> Be specific.
> Show that you paid attention.

Because just like in real life, feeling chosen matters.

No, you're not alone. If you saw that αŠ αˆ›αˆαŠ› (Ethiopic) text has suddenly disappeared from your Telegram, don't worry, I've got you covered. Here is how to fix it:

1. Tap the three lines at the top left.
2. Go to Settings
3. Tap on Chat Settings
4. Select Font Family.
5. Choose a font that supports both Latin and Ethiopic characters.
6. Hit Save.

πŸ‘‰ Some of those fonts
- Noto Sans Ethiopic
- Kefa
- Ebrima
- Nokia Pure Headline

Hope this helps. πŸ€—
