I was looking at the channels recommended yesterday and some of them happen to be owned by A2SVians. From what I’ve heard and read about A2SV, it is tough and doing both you guys that’s mad 🙌🙌🙌.

🚀 Introducing Dataset.ET
The future of AI should speak Ethiopian languages.
Today we are launching Dataset.ET — an open community initiative to build the largest dataset for Ethiopian languages.
Why this matters:
Most AI systems today barely understand Amharic, Afaan Oromo, Tigrinya, Somali, and many other Ethiopian languages. Without datasets, AI will ignore our languages.
Dataset.ET is changing that.
What we are building:
• Speech datasets
• Text datasets
• Community-validated language corpora
• Open infrastructure for Ethiopian AI
How you can help:
1️⃣ Record sentences using our Telegram bot
2️⃣ Validate recordings from other contributors
3️⃣ Help expand datasets for Ethiopian languages
No technical skills needed — just your voice and your language.

This is why I say SWE is beyond the codes 😩. Detailed story coming soon. This time it’s not a fun one just lesson. Till then here is the context. The issue I was scratching my head to solve yesterday happened because I was using an outdated template but the doc is also outdated. I’ve to find the current template by asking around after wasting an entire day 😩.

A little lesson from my 1:1 today
Do feel territorial because you don’t own the code, the team owns the code and you just own the responsibility of delivering it. So just focus on delivering quality than being territorial.

So I am currently working on something similar to Apache Airflow if any of you knows it. I was given on task and completed that and then another completed that as well until a big decision came.
The decision was to change the repository and most of the things I worked on. Why because another team owns the queues I was working on and they want to deprecate that.
So for the orchestrator I need a common template used with in my department and went to our doc page to create one. Followed the steps and done. I’m happy so far but it’s time to test the sh*ts I broke 😁.
So I started to build the image and it builds fine though it takes 30 mins 😭. And then we docker composed up and everything is fine then when we exec everything breaks and the response was the service is not up. And I’m like wth I just built and upped the container.
Beka wede gra wede kegn bye bfelg bzor wef and I spent an entire day on it and guess what the next day was a demo day 😭. So I left late that day almost eskemecheresha energy heje around 7pm smtg. Keza next day I told my boss what was going on and there is a simple mechanism I usually check whether the issue is mine or not. I’ll tell you another day.
So the issues was with the template and now I have to find the team that works on it. Took me 10 mins but found them and talked to the person who was online. Had a back and forth chat with him.
Then he said I just checked out template and it works fine and I was like no it’s not. So I sent a dummy PR link to check and he said owwwww yeah you’re using the deprecated template. And sent me a link to the new template and all this happened when I was in a meeting with my boss for the demo day.
Anyways I got started with it again. Now if the doc was updated I wouldn’t have wasted two days 1 working and 1 debugging.
Anyways yhea this is the whole story with context.

People working in Antropic have a term called Claudify 😂😂😂. It means to allow Claude to do research on particular questions they’ve 😁.
