Going for a vocation for 2 weeks starting from Monday, 25.05.24.

Will try to reflect for the past 5 months and refresh myself: spiritually, intellectually, and physically.

For now just wanted to share what I have learned along the journey that I had.

If you have something worth dying for, your life is worth living for:

There's a powerful truth: having a cause that ignites your passion makes life worth living. For me, that passion translates into projects with real impact.

There's no greater satisfaction than taking ownership, pouring your focus and energy into a project you believe in, and witnessing the positive outcomes – exceeding expectations, with the blessings of Allah.

The past 6-7 years with Alif have been a testament to this. From introducing QR payments in Khujand, Tajikistan (when the concept was entirely new) to overcoming challenges and building infrastructure from scratch with local Uzbek banks, the journey has been incredible

Three key skills have been crucial on this journey:
1. Hard Work: Putting in relentless effort.
2. Persistence: Being like a bulldozer, doing whatever it takes. Tear the earth with your teeth and gnaw. Die, but do it and take it to the end. Period. There's no room for giving up; every challenge is an opportunity to make it better, strategize better, and prepare better.
3. Discipline: There is no freedom without discipline.

Just watched the interesting interview of Tucker Carlson with President of El Salvador.

The learning part for me is leadership and wisdom, moving from 0 to 1 and transforming to great, building smth beautiful and well executing.

Nayib Bukele has turned El Salvador, the murder capital of the world, the world’s most dangerous country, into the safest country in the Western Hemisphere with no help of any countries.
So how he did it? What is the formula?
— Official formula: they had a plan.
— Unofficial: it’s miracle. When Gangs started to attach the state back and killed 87 people in three days, which for a country of 6 million people it is crazy. it was an impossible mission and we prayed several times in the meeting asking for wisdom and win the war

Recently he was elected for the second term. In his inaugural he said, they’ve achieved peace and now they’re going to grow an economy and he has a plan.
And the first point of his plan:
— Seeking God’s Wisdom

Alhamdullilah, over the past few months, we have been working hard to bring you Alif Avia – a simple and easy way to book flights in Uzbekistan ✈️😊

— A trustworthy place to book flights with local cards like HUMO & Uzcard, including corporate cards.
— Easy and simple to use; once you add your data, it will be securely saved for future bookings.
— Some destinations are even cheaper than on Aviasales or Skyscanner.

Stay tuned for more exciting features coming to Alif Avia. We look forward to your feedback and comments💚

Kaspi.kz: an interesting transformation journey from a traditional bank which didn’t go well in 2008 to $24Bn Fintech in Kazakstan

Recently watched an interview with Mikhail Lomtadze, the CEO of Kaspi.kz. And I believe that we’re doing more less in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan with our own values, culture and making our own unique path to $Bn the world Islamic Fintech.

Here are some key insights:

Massive Reach: Kaspi serves 15 million customers in a country with a population of 20 million. Impressively, 2/3 of their clients use Kaspi daily.

Impressive Growth: In 2023, Kaspi achieved $4.2B in revenue with a 45% net income margin, growing at ~50% YoY.

Customer Focus:
Central to Kaspi's success is a relentless focus on customer satisfaction, meticulously measured through Net Promoter Scores (NPS). 300,000 users are surveyed monthly

Organizational Structure:
Kaspi's unique structure features small, dedicated teams led by directly responsible individuals. This fosters accountability, ownership, and startup-like agility. Interestingly, managers are measured on NPS levels of customer satisfaction, not financial targets.

Cashless Payments Leader:
Kazakhstan has emerged as a leader in cashless payments, shifting from 15% cashless transactions in 2015 to over 85% today, thanks to Kaspi.kz as well.

In Uzbekistan it was 78,5% cashless based on statistic of Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

Will write about part 2 later. Here is the podcast you might watch yourself

Governmental services:
Mikhail attributes Kazakhstan's digital transformation success to strong collaboration between government entities and private companies. You can do pretty much of governmental services not going to any state offices, starting from getting birth certificate to transferring car ownership and calculating and paying tax which have made life significantly easier for Kazakhstani citizens, setting a benchmark for digital innovation.

Comparison with Uzbekistan:
Actually the same going here in Uzbekistan. In 2023 there are more than 400 governmental services listed in my.gov.uz and you can get top popular services in Alif Mobi app

Ecosystem approach/Super app:
Kaspi Consumer Super App which has ~14m Average MAU include:
— e-Commerce;
— m-commerce;
— e-Grocery;
—Travel (Airline tickets, Train, tour packages);
— Classifieds;
— Postomats;
— Governmental services;
— BNPL;
— Loans;
— Car Finance;
— Kaspi Gold Account;
— Kaspi Deposit;
— Kaspi QR;
— p2p payments;
— Bill Payments.

Alif’s ecosystem/Super app in UZB, reaching almost 1m MAU:
— e-commerce;
— BNPL;
— P2P payments;
— Bill Payments;
— Transfer by bank requisites;
— Remittances;
— Governmental services;
— Travel (Airline tickets…)
— Alif Pay QR;
— Car Finance;
— Bill me later;
— And more exciting coming…

Future Expansion of Kaspi:
Kaspi is definitely considering other markets. They are looking at markets with high mobile penetration, cashless transactions, and robust e-commerce activities. Potential markets include Eastern Europe, Asia, and Uzbekistan. Despite limited access to cheap financing, Kaspi remains extremely efficient, ensuring they select the right countries and acquisition targets for expansion.
- I remember in 2021, Kaspi had to choose to enter Uzbekistan or Ukraine and went to Ukraine. In December, 2021 Kaspi announced that going to acquire a payment service Portmone and BTA Bank, but since the war started there and it didn’t go well, Kaspi didn’t acquire it.

So interesting to learn and measure our progress, but still keeping focus on our unique path with our own values

Abdullo Kurbanov shares the story of South Korea, and the power of love transformed a poor country in 1960s into one of the most developed and wealthy in the world now.
South Koreans were united and driven by the slogan «Love for the Motherland»

Aki Abdullo explains that
the highest level of personal growth, is love.
Love for the Creator and the manifestation of this love for everything God created,

Love for humanity,
love for each other, love for our homeland.
God is merciful and loves mercy.
Everyone who is merciful in this world will be shown mercy by God in the Hereafter.

What is love?
Love is seeing smiles on children's faces.
Love is seeing joy in people's hearts, clients' hearts, striving to make ease difficulties, cure diseases.
Love is when you are thirsty, but you give your water to someone who needs it more.
Love is not hiding behind walls, but rather breaking them down and building bridges to each other.

We want to see our country beautiful, even better, even more magnificent.

Not out of pride, not out of ego, but out of love.
Aki Abdullo underlines, that you perform heroic deeds, work hard and strive, exceeding expectations.

You do not remain indifferent to others, to our clients.

We find wisdom in every fall, rise after failures and persistently continue to move forward.

We become the best versions of ourselves every day.
We learn, teach, and have the courage to dream, to dream that one day we will become the best, we will reach the highest level of human perfection, to contribute not only to our country but to the whole world.

Aki Abdullo encourages to accept the most difficult challenges...

For what?
For love.
We are building Alif with love.
We are building it in the name of love.

It is already 4th or 5th time that I come back to listen/read Good-to-great by Jim Collins. Each time I found different valuable lesson and try to integrate in my life (personal/professional)

This time thanks to Xumoyon aka, who ordered a book in Alif, will read in Russian and try to implement step-by-step with the team.

Worth to share these 3 key Components of the Flywheel:

1. Disciplined People:
— Level 5 Leadership:
Leaders who are ambitious for the company and demonstrate a blend of humility and professional will.

— First Who, Then What:
Ensuring the right people are on the bus and in the right seats before deciding where to drive it.

2. Disciplined Thought:
— Confront the Brutal Facts:
Creating a culture where people can face uncomfortable truths without losing faith.

— Hedgehog Concept:
Finding the intersection of what you are deeply passionate about, what you can be the best in the world at, and what drives your economic engine.

3. Disciplined Action:
— Culture of Discipline: Combining a culture of discipline with an ethic of entrepreneurship.

— Technology Accelerators:
Using technology to accelerate growth, but not relying on it as the primary driver.

You can accomplish anything in life, provided that you do not mind who gets the credit.
