Couldn’t sleep last night because of a typeface idea.

So I spent today building this experimental Ethiopic display typeface using simple geometric shapes.

Still rough. Still needs work. But not bad for a single day. sketches below👇

New font drops from Ethel Glyphs (Abel Yeshewalem)! First up is Zemenay - ዘመናይ , a clean, engraved-style regular Amharic font built specifically for heavy headline texts, bold titles, and thumbnails (the Latin glyphs are adapted from the open-source Liberation family). Alongside it is Balderasu - ባልደራሱ , a raw, purposely tilted Pentel brush handwritten font designed entirely from scratch to bring a dynamic, human touch to social media posts, creative layouts, and lyric videos.
