በማቴዎስ ወንጌል ፥ " እነሆ ታላቅ የምድር መናወጥ ሆነ፤ የእግዚአብሔር መልአክ ከሰማይ ወርዶአልና ፤ ቀርቦም በመቃብሩ አፍ ላይ ድንጋይዋን አንከባሎ በላይዋ ተቀመጠ፡፡

መልኩም እንደ መብረቅ ፤ ልብሱም እንደ በረዶ ነጭ ነበር፡፡

እርሱንም ከመፍራት የተነሣ መቃብሩን የሚጠብቁ ታወኩ ፤ እንደ በድንም ሆኑ፡፡

መልአኩ መልሶ ሴቶቹን እንዲህ አላቸው፥ ' እናንተስ አትፍሩ ፤ የተሰቀለውን ኢየሱስን እንደምትሹ አውቃለሁና፡፡ በዚህ የለም ፤ እርሱ እንደ ተናገረው ተነሥቶአል ' " ተብሎ እንደተጻፈው መድኃኒዓለም ብርሃንን ተጎናጽፎ በታላቅ ኃይልና ሥልጣን በክብር ተነሥቶአል፡፡
