Flip a bottle with us today 🔍 Three words that sound official and mostly aren't:
"Hypoallergenic": no legal definition. Any brand can print it 😳
"Dermatologist-tested": a dermatologist was involved at some point. Tested how? On whom? The label doesn't have to say.
"Clean": means whatever the brand decides it means. There's no standard 🤷♀️
None of these words know your skin. The ingredient list is where the truth lives, and we spent all of last month teaching you to read it 😌✨

Answer: false, and this one catches almost everyone 😮
A client with reactive skin once brought us her entire "unscented" lineup, confused about why she was still flaring. The labels were technically honest: unscented just means you can't SMELL fragrance. Masking agents used to neutralise scent can still be in there, and they can still irritate 🙈
"Fragrance-free" is the stricter claim: no fragrance ingredients at all.
What we told her: when skin is sensitive, trust the ingredient list over the front of the bottle. Her flares settled within weeks of the swap 💡✨

Answer: false 🎯 Blackheads are oil and dead skin cells that oxidised when they met air. That dark colour is chemistry, not dirt.
Which is exactly why scrubbing harder doesn't clear them, and why pore strips are such a heartbreak: they rip out the top, the pore refills, and you're back in two weeks with irritated skin as a bonus 😩
The real fix is slower and gentler: a BHA a few nights a week to dissolve what's inside the pore, and patience while it works 🧪
Remember the closed comedones lesson from last month? Same family, same rule: dissolve, don't demolish ✨

Same pores, zero strips 🤍
She came to us convinced her nose strips just "weren't strong enough." What her skin actually needed was the opposite: less ripping, more dissolving, and a routine built around her actual congestion.
Textbook case of what this morning's post was about. Her pores didn't need punishing. They needed understanding 😌

Today's myth: "it's in my kitchen, so it's safe on my face" 🍋
Lemon juice for brightening? Its pH is around 2, acidic enough to disrupt your barrier, and it can react with sunlight to leave burns and dark patches 😳
Baking soda for exfoliating? The opposite problem: so alkaline it strips the acid mantle your skin uses to protect itself.
Real skincare acids are buffered, tested and dosed. Kitchen ingredients are none of those things 🧪
DIY is lovely for dinner. Your face deserves formulation 😌✨

Answer: false, and here's the client who proved it 😮
Skin has no lungs. Its oxygen arrives through your blood, not through your pores, so makeup can't suffocate it 🫁
One client swore makeup was breaking her out. She quit it entirely for a month. The breakouts stayed 😔
What we told her: it's almost never the makeup itself. It's what happens around it: sleeping in it, rushed removal, brushes that haven't been washed since purchase 🙈
We fixed her evening routine and she kept the makeup she loves. Breakouts gone, no sacrifice required 🎉✨

Kristel came to us wanting to clear recurring bumps. A year of intentional testing later, product by product, her words: "I've been more comfortable leaving the house without any makeup on" 🥹
That's what this week is really about. Not anti-makeup. Skin that makes makeup a choice, not a cover 🤍✨

Wednesday thought 🤍
Somewhere along the way, skincare culture started treating makeup like a bad habit to apologise for. We don't see it that way.
Makeup is expression. Skincare is foundation. The goal was never to need less makeup, it's to CHOOSE your makeup freely, on skin that feels good underneath 💄
Wear the full glam. Wear nothing. Both are self-care when it's your choice 🌱✨

Answer: false 😅 Wipes are the fast food of cleansing: fine in an emergency, a problem as a lifestyle.
What a wipe actually does: smears makeup, sunscreen and the day's buildup around your face, removes maybe half of it, and leaves a residue film behind. The tugging isn't great for your skin either 😬
On makeup days, double cleanse: an oil or balm first to melt everything, then your gentle cleanser to finish the job 🧼
Keep wipes for festivals and flights. Your pillowcase will know the difference 😌✨
