The Binance saga ……





Recently Binance shut off its p2p section for Nigerians (basically where a large chunk of the trading goes on).

This obviously came from a back and forth between Nigerian government and Binance as regards the exchange rate.

I gave this some thought and it reinforced a few lines of thought that I want to communicate to you.

It’s imperative to know that Binance is certainly not the ONLY exchange in Nigeria, there are a ton of others.

The simple problem of Binance is this, THEY WERE THE LARGEST.

And I mean, who else will the government go after, but the big dogs?

Let me give you context to how much business was lost for Binance;
Nigeria had the highest peer-to-peer (P2P) exchange volume, according to the 2023 Geography of Cryptocurrency Report by Chainalysis.

Imagine losing your foothold in the location with your best customers

Of course, you should know by that Nigerians may leave Binance, but certainly not crypto.

And so really, it’s a game of “onto the next platform”, with all of Binance competitors benefitting from the crackdown

Essentially, I’m letting you know that Binance just technically offloaded all its customers to its competitors just like that.

This is a very glaring example of what I call ‘the challenge of greatness”

The simple reason why Binance is in this mess is that ‘they were number 1’

You want to build a big business
You want to build a global brand
You want to be a nationwide force
A conglomerate you say
The next Steve Jobs, Tim Cook….

Sounds nice, but again, have you calculated the cost of greatness?
Are you really ready for the level of greatness you desire?

Can you insulate your business against the challenges of “BEING BIG”

Again I remind you that, GREATNESS IS FRAGILE
