This year, I made a conscious effort to break out of my introvert shell and found myself participating in more events than usual. Despite my privileged position as a speaker at several gatherings, I've made it a point not to leave early, recognizing the excitement that comes with connecting with young minds.

After the customary introductory pleasantries, I often pose a simple question to initiate conversation: 'What do you do?' Unfortunately, this question is rarely answered adequately. The most irksome responses come from those who proceed to list all their skills, leaving me with a scattered and overwhelming overview of their capabilities.

"I write content, and I'm also a... oh, and I do this too, sir." It's a mess usually

In response to those who have a clear focus, I take the next step by challenging them to 'Show me something.'

This request is met with various reactions—some confidently present their work, while others fumble through their phones in a desperate search for a representation of their efforts.

To compound matters, encountering the same individual at different events and witnessing the repetition of this cycle never fails to appall me.

I call this WASTED EXPOSURE - I literally know you.......FOR NOTHING

There seems to be a prevalent trend of attending events without a strategic approach to making lasting connections.

In truth, there is a prevailing 'go out there and connect' trend, but it's crucial to move beyond random and aimless interactions.

The essence lies not in haphazard and purposeless associations.

One must ensure that one's imprint is indelibly etched in the recesses of acquaintances' minds, so that upon contemplation, one is immediately recollected.

In my view, it's crucial to have something going for you, even if it's minimal. When you go out to connect, be prepared to introduce yourself and your work, allowing people to uniquely associate you with what you desire to be represented as.

Two key things you must have in place before attending any event:

1. Prepare and rehearse your consistent introductory line 
2. Have your ‘connection Arsenal’ - This is basically work organized and ready to be presented upon request

However, she went and ‘borrowed not a few vessels’ as instructed. Scampering from house to house, every nook and cranny, I imagine her repeating these words.

Upon deeper thought, I realized it would be easy for the widow to get vessels because everyone had empty vessels due to the famine in the land. Finally, she arrives with sweaty palms.
