About 60% of Americans will be obese by 2030. This is the primary driver of life expectancy decreases from what would typically be the expected norm (based on real GDP per capita and health spending). Not only do we have an issue with overconsumption out of excess, but we have an issue with how we price food for the poorest Americans. The most affordable options tend to be fast food, while more nutritious foods are out of their price range.
