Relying on someone for something is simply giving them power over you.
If you are going to wait for someone, then it shouldn't be for things that you can't do without.

Do not let the current world event distract you from your goals.
It's tempting to gossip and overly analyze the situation.
But the question is:
How does that bring you closer to your goals?
Should I talk about the ostrich method?
Intentional autism?

Understand the situation in 5 questions:
Let's simplify this.
When did the situation between Russia and Ukraine deteriorate?
In October, U.S. intelligence officials became concerned about Russian troop movements on the Ukrainian border. These were documented and videos circulated on social networks showing Russian trains and trucks carrying tanks and missiles.
The heads of the American and French diplomacy, Antony Blinken and Jean-Yves Le Drian, denounced the Russian activity, calling on Western officials to put pressure on Moscow.
Despite calls for calm from European Union representatives and the announcement of possible retaliation, Russia does not disarm.
Vladimir Putin's forces have now reached more than 100,000 men.
Why is Russia threatening Ukraine?
Until 1991, Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union. After its declaration of independence, the country maintained close ties with its powerful neighbor. But in February 2014, the pro-Russian government of Viktor Yanukovych was overthrown, in what Moscow says was a destabilization campaign orchestrated by Washington.
A month later, Russia retaliated by annexing Crimea.
From then on, Ukraine took a completely different political path and turned its back on Vladimir Putin to get closer to the European Union and the United States.
Since then, Moscow has been accused by Kiev and the West of supporting militarily and financially the separatist republics in the east of the country, which the Kremlin denies. But the Russian president has made no secret of his desire to seize the Donbass region to create a corridor to protect Crimea and threaten Odessa, thus cutting off Ukraine's access to the Black Sea.
In July 2020, Ukrainian military intelligence counterattacked and organized an operation to kidnap 33 Russian mercenaries who had fought in eastern Ukraine, alongside the separatists. But the Belarusian side thwarted the mission.
Last September, violent fighting between the separatists and the Ukrainian army gave Vladimir Putin a pretext to mobilize his troops to "protect" the pro-Russian fighters.
Why is the United States so involved?
The United States has a large Ukrainian community, which does not hesitate to make itself heard at every Russian movement threatening its motherland.
A key player in the downfall of the pro-Russian president, the U.S. government largely funded opponents of power before 2014, through USAID (Agency for International Development, responsible for economic development and humanitarian assistance around the world) and the National Endowment for Democracy (NED, an organization dedicated to defending democracy, or, according to Moscow, installing U.S.-friendly regimes).
Under Secretary of State in the Biden administration and former State Department spokeswoman under Barack Obama, Victoria Nuland said in December 2013 that the United States had spent "billions of dollars to promote democracy" in Ukraine since 1991.
Since the change in power Washington has increased ties with Ukraine. Joe Biden's own son has conducted financial operations there.
Now, the United States wants to use Ukrainian territory as a strategic location to "monitor Russia. Washington is therefore pushing the idea of the country joining NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), which Moscow considers a provocation.
And this is only scratching the surface...
