Fun history fact, George Orwell went to go fight against nationalists in Spain during the Spanish civil war. For his efforts he got shot in the neck and then had to flee his own commie allies for not being leftist enough.
At the hospital where his neck wound was treated he caught the TB that would eventually end his life.
In almost every way imaginable Aldous Huxley was more prescient about what would happen than Orwell. Our Police state does not force us to exercise it does not control us by force.
Mostly it keeps people in line by sedating them with prescription or street drugs they use to cope with the purposelessness of their lives. They don’t breed lower IQ people to work as they did in a Brave New World, but they import them instead, which is easier. They’ve normalized porn and normalized casual sex and between that and the drugs people are too sedated to care.
