v17.5: The storiesig feature works intermittently as it can be blocked by Instagram at random times. Moving on, be reminded that any service that allows you to read stories without logging in has a bot account and is subject to strict Instagram limits (Imagine you only have 1 bot account but have to handle requests for 1000 users). Please use it responsibly.

Also, Instagram Reels was launched yesterday, *hours before* Trump issuing the order banning TikTok and WeChat. While I support restricting services that are detrimental to our privacy and behaviour, I strongly believe that the timing of the two events is not coincidental, and given allegations [1], if my suspicions are proven correct, I must condemn the act of the Trump administration literally replacing "Chinese surveillance" with American surveillance: There is NO "less bad of the both", and Facebook poses an equivalent (if not even graver) threat on privacy and behaviour. Hereby, I reaffirm that InstaGrabber will ONLY send requests to Instagram if you explicitly requested content or made an interaction. No shady business.

* Ammar Githam (WildFyre) has joined the team, effectively ending the single-maintainer status of this app.
* As I go back into college (2020 is already bad enough), updates will become less frequent, and DM features will take a bit longer. I'll still try to do bug fixes ASAP though.

Despite winning the popular vote, "LibreGram" has been removed from the survey, due to:

* Legal issues. The name is trademarked in Turkey, where this app is being heavily promoted at.
* False advertising. Since Instagram itself is not a free/libre platform, I cannot just say my app is fully free/libre, because it relies on something that is not (Think about F-Droid antifeatures).

If you have not downloaded v19.0-a1, you need to read the previous release notes.

As of now, enrolling into the new Instagram DM experience (i.e. Messenger merger) will not affect Barinsta DM functionality, as long as you do not try to message a Facebook account (which is fixed in code but not yet released).

It has come to our attention that someone posted the alpha release onto Google Play while not respecting GPLv3 conditions. We have taken appropriate actions to respond to this incident. In the future, please stay vigilant of all occurrences of copyright infringements.
