Bahir Dar University's School of Graduate Studies Announces Call for Abstracts for the #African_Graduate_Students_Conference (AGSC)
Bahir Dar University's School of Graduate Studies is pleased to announce the Call for Abstracts for the annual African Graduate Students Conference (AGSC). This year's conference, themed "An Integrated, Prosperous, and Peaceful Africa Driven by Its Graduate Students Towards Agenda 2063," will bring together MSc and PhD students from diverse disciplines across Africa.
The AGSC provides a unique platform for graduate researchers to share their work and contribute to shaping the future of the continent. This pioneering conference in Ethiopia offers invaluable networking opportunities and fosters intellectual exchange among emerging scholars.
This year, the AGSC is excited to launch its new online platform for abstract submissions, developed by the BDU ICT team, with special thanks to Ato Zelalem and web designer Ato Andargachew. This platform will streamline the submission process and enhance accessibility for participants.
All accepted abstracts will be published in the African Graduate Students Conference Proceedings (AGSCP), available in a book of abstracts distributed at the conference and online for wider dissemination.

Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia Advances Online Education with New LMS Guidelines
Bahir Dar University’s Continuing and Distance Education Program Coordination Office recently held a half-day workshop to validate the Learning Management System (LMS) Guidelines for second-degree online education programs. The event, held at the Old Senate Hall on the main campus, was attended by Prof. Esay Kebede, President of Academic Affairs, along with deans, department heads, faculty members, and ICT experts.
The workshop marked a significant step in enhancing the quality and efficiency of online education programs offered both nationally and internationally. Dr. Meseret Zewdu, Executive Director of the Continuing and Distance Education Program Coordination Office, highlighted the importance of the newly developed service manual, which outlines the roles of students, instructors, and administrative staff in online second-degree programs.
Mr. Temeseng Warku and Mr. Belete Mersha, key contributors to the guideline preparation, provided detailed insights into the LMS framework. ICT experts and partners actively participated, offering valuable feedback and clarifications, leading to a consensus on the finalized guidelines.
The workshop unveiled six comprehensive LMS guidelines designed to streamline online education:
1. LMS Admin Guideline
2. LMS Instructor Guideline
3. LMS Student Guideline
4. LMS Requirement and Business Process Guideline
5. Information Security Policy
6. Exam Proctoring Guideline
These guidelines aim to ensure a seamless and secure learning experience for students, instructors, and administrators, further solidifying Bahir Dar University’s commitment to innovation and excellence in education.
