🎯 "used to" နှင့် "be used to"

"used to" နဲ့ "be used to" ဆိုတဲ့ စကားစုနှစ်ခုက ပုံစံချင်းဆင်ပေမဲ့ အဓိပ္ပာယ်နဲ့ အသုံးပြုပုံချင်း မတူပါဘူး။ ဘယ်လိုကွာခြားလဲ....?

✅ "used to"

အတိတ်တုန်းက ပုံမှန်လုပ်ခဲ့ဖူးတဲ့ အလေ့အကျင့်တစ်ခု ဒါမှမဟုတ် အခုလက်ရှိမှာ မဟုတ်တော့တဲ့ အခြေအနေတစ်ခုကို ပြောချင်တဲ့အခါ သုံးပါတယ်။

📌 Subject + used to + Verb (base form)

* I used to play football when I was young.
(ငါ ငယ်ငယ်တုန်းက ဘောလုံးကန်လေ့ရှိတယ်၊ အခုတော့ မကန်တော့ဘူး။)
* He used to live in Yangon.
(သူ ရန်ကုန်မှာ နေခဲ့ဖူးတယ်၊ အခုတော့ မနေတော့ဘူး။)

✅ "be used to"

အကျွမ်းတဝင်ရှိနေပြီဖြစ်တဲ့ အခြေအနေတစ်ခု ဒါမှမဟုတ် အရာတစ်ခုကို ပြောချင်တဲ့အခါ သုံးပါတယ်။ ဒီအခြေအနေကို ကိုယ်က အဆင်ပြေပြေနဲ့ ရင်ဆိုင်နိုင်နေပါပြီ။
"to" နောက်မှာ noun / verb-ing (gerund) လိုက်ရပါမယ်။

* I am used to getting up early.
(ငါ မနက်စောစောထတာကို အကျင့်ဖြစ်နေပြီ။)

* She is used to the hot weather in Myanmar.

"didn't dislike" / "isn't unnecessary" တို့လို double negatives ပုံစံရေးထားတဲ့အသုံးအနှုန်းမျိုးတွေကို မြင်ဖူးကြမှာပါ။ ဒီလိုပုံစံရေးတာကို Litotes လို့ ခေါ်ပါတယ်။

🎯 Litotes ဆိုတာ ဘာလဲ

Litotes ဆိုတာက အငြင်းသဘောဆောင်တဲ့စကားလုံး (negative word) နှစ်လုံးကို တွဲပြီး အပြုသဘောဆောင်တဲ့အဓိပ္ပာယ်ကို ဖော်ပြတဲ့ အတတ်ပညာတစ်မျိုးပါ။

ဥပမာ-
- He isn't unfriendly. (သူက မဖော်ရွေတာမဟုတ်)
သူက ဖော်ရွေတယ်။ (He is friendly. အဓိပ္ပာယ်ပါပဲ)
- It's not a bad idea. (မကောင်းတဲ့စိတ်ကူးမဟုတ်)
ဒါက ကောင်းတဲ့စိတ်ကူးပါ။ (It's a good idea.)

🎯 Litotes ကို ဘာကြောင့်သုံးကြတာလဲ

🔺အလေးအနက် မပြောလိုတဲ့အခါ (Understatement)

တိုက်ရိုက် "It's great" လို့ပြောမယ့်အစား "It's not bad." လို့ပြောလိုက်ရင် နည်းနည်းလေး ပိုပြီး လျှော့ပြောရာရောက်ပါတယ်။ ဒီလို လျှော့ပြောတာက စကားပြောတဲ့သူရဲ့ စိတ်ခံစားမှုကို ပိုပြီး နက်နက်နဲနဲ ထင်ဟပ်စေပါတယ်။

🔺 တိုက်ရိုက်မပြောလိုတဲ့အခါ (Less direct, more polite)

လူတစ်ယောက်ရဲ့အိုင်ဒီယာကို "It's a brilliant idea!" လို့ တိုက်ရိုက်ပြောမယ့်အစား "That's not a bad idea." လို့ ပြောလိုက်တာက ပိုပြီး ယဉ်ကျေးတဲ့ပုံစံမျိုး ဖြစ်စေပါတယ်။ ဒါ့အပြင် တခြားသူရဲ့ ခံစားချက်ကို ထိခိုက်မှုမရှိစေဖို့အတွက်လည်း သုံးကြပါတယ်။

🔺ဟာသဉာဏ်ရွှင်ဖို့ (Irony and Humor)

အထူးသဖြင့် ဆန့်ကျင်ဘက်အဓိပ္ပာယ်ကို သုံးပြီး ဟာသမြောက်အောင် ပြောလေ့ရှိပါတယ်။
ဥပမာ- ရေခဲတုံးလို အေးနေတဲ့ အခန်းထဲ ရောက်သွားတဲ့အခါ "It's a bit chilly in here" လို့ ပြောမယ့်အစား "It's not exactly warm in here" လို့ ဟာသလုပ်ပြီး ပြောလို့ရပါတယ်။

🎯 ဥပမာတွေ ဆက်လေ့လာကြည့်ပါ။

- This is not unnecessay.
ဒါက လိုအပ်တယ်။ (This is necessary.)
- It wasn't a bad movie.
အဲဒီရုပ်ရှင်က ကောင်းပါတယ်။ (It was a good movie.)
- She's not a poor writer.
သူမက စာရေးကောင်းတယ်။ (She is a good writer.)
- I can't disagree with you.
မင်းပြောတာကို သဘောတူပါတယ်။ (I agree with you.)
- The exam was not easy.
စာမေးပွဲက ခက်တယ်။ (The exam was difficult.)

Litotes ကို တိုက်ရိုက်ပြောတာထက် ပိုပြီး ယဉ်ကျေးတာ၊ နူးညံ့သိမ်မွေ့တာ၊ ဒါမှမဟုတ် ဟာသနှောတာမျိုးတွေမှာ သုံးလေ့ရှိပါတယ်။
