🚨The Satellite Winter Fly-By airdrop is now live! 🚨

The eligibility criteria is as follows:

📍 Nearly 6,000 unique addresses qualified for this airdrop. In order to receive the airdrop, holders must go to https://airdrop.axelar.network , enter their either their Cosmos chain address or EVM address and check eligibility and request the airdrop reward.

📍 The airdrop is available to the first 500 unique addresses on each connected chain that received bridged assets via Satellite during the eligibility period.

📍 The first 500 unique addresses are collected for each chain in the eligible period (December 2021 through September 2022).

📍 The implied time window reflected from the above is between Axelar block height 5,225 (December 2021) and Axelar block height 3,906,350 (September 2022).

We’re about 24H into the Satellite Winter Fly-By Airdrop, and we see the questions coming up here and on Discord, so we wanted to clarify a few things:

On eligibility:

The Satellite Winter Fly-By Airdrop is eligible to approximately 6,000 addresses — the first 500 users to received bridged assets on each connected chain. In some cases, this limit was reached very early, within days of the chain being connected via satellite.money.

The Winter Fly-By was announced in November as a retroactive airdrop: “a snapshot of past transactions to reward early adopters.” It wasn’t teased / communicated at all during the eligibility period over which the snapshot was taken. Satellite is a utility built on Axelar infrastructure. Its primary users are those who need to bridge assets securely between chains.

If you think you were among the first 500 users on a given chain, or want to re-check, you can enter your address at: https://airdrop.axelar.network/

A few things to keep in mind:

📍 Though you may have been early, if there were 500 users ahead of you or more, your address will not be eligible.

📍 Addresses that bridged on the same day as yours may be eligible, while yours will not.

We’ve received help desk tickets from users who are confident they were in that first 500 on a given chain, but were not able to claim the airdrop. We are reviewing those and providing support where applicable and answers to all tickets.

On Satellite gas fees:

Services on the Axelar network estimate the gas required at the source and destination chain, as well as fees to compensate Axelar stakers and validators. This estimation is sometimes high, sometimes low.

The Winter Fly-By airdrop program is not reimbursement for gas paid on Satellite. Satellite is a product built on top of Axelar network that connects major ecosystems and drives interchain liquidity.

Satellite fees were largely subsidized by Axelar for the first few months. Specifically, the fee was 0.1% of the transfer amount. Some of you may have noticed higher fees shown on axelarscan.io. An issue in the explorer was causing it to show an incorrect fee for old transfers. That has now been fixed and users can check the received amounts to verify: https://axelarscan.io/
