Join the protest against Drax Power Station's burning of trees, coal and planned HUGE gas expansion.
Activists will be lining the train line from Liverpool - where Drax imports clear-felled trees from North America and Europe - to the incinerator of Drax Power Station. Join the relevant chat in the action document ▶️ http://tiny.cc/trainofdestruction
We will be greeting the train that leaves at 11:15 and arrives at 18:07
Wear red, orange and yellow.
Our demands?
1️⃣ Stop subsidising ecocide: make the government transfer the £789.5 million in subsidies for Drax Power Station to genuine renewables.
2️⃣ Leave it in the ground: stop Drax building Europe’s biggest ever fossil gas power station.
3️⃣ End the lies: end Drax's dangerous greenwashing claims that burning trees for energy is a climate solution.
The protest will be taking into consideration all varying covid-19 restrictions across the country.

At 7am this morning a member of Axe Drax covered the Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) in bright orange paint using a modified fire extinguisher, hanging banners banners that read "Stop Burning Trees" and "Rise Up for Reparations". This is the beginning of a series of protests today against Drax Group on their annual general meeting, as campaigners gather in Liverpool, Leeds, York, Hull and outside Drax's AGM in London.
This kicks off the Stop Burning Trees day of action, with protest happening from in:

To make sure any protests or actions are both pushing our demands and educating people about this insane project, we need a steady flow of Drax & biomass education on our social media and that can only happen with a few enthusiastic people!
If you have any interested, you don't need any previous experience using social media as we'll be arranging in depth training to kick this off

Join Axe Drax and to support Dr Diana Warner, a retired GP who in December 2021 was arrested for obstructing a Drax train on the way to Drax Power Station. She chose to skip a trial in the High Court to instead take action against the company Drax.
